Thank You, Game, For Letting Me Know I Won't Succeed In Being An Engineer. I actually pick this game up simply because I love Cobalt Core, and I am curious to see the dev's debut work. It has the same cutesy art style, and the main cast appears in Cobalt Core too. Sunshine Heavy Industries is a short and simple shipbuilding simulator in which you take requests from various adorable and characteristic clients and assemble "workable" ships for them. It's funny. It's wacky. This game even gives off the same warm, cozy vibe from Cobalt Core that I love. Things I Like About Sunshine Heavy Industries: [*] Build Ships The Way "You" Want: The gameplay is very simple. You take requests from a variety of quirky characters. They list out all their ship conditions for you to follow. Then you pick up all the ideal parts and start building a ship! Interestingly, the clients only want you to fulfill their conditions. Whatever the ship looks like is completely up to you, as long as you don't squander all the budget. It's just like Lego. The joy of slowly and steadily assembling the pieces into the ideal formation is wonderful. You can build the most convincing, coolest spaceship model in the history of mankind, or you can build an intangible concept stitched together by hopes and dreams. And of course, the eternal struggle of keeping all parts functional and looking aesthetically pleasing is also presented here. [*] Characters And Story: I really like how the dev team creates the world-building and the characters in this game. Everything is done in a very simple, messenger-like info box, but somehow this method delivers more than it seems. Even though most characters only have like three to four lines worth of dialogue, the witty writing successfully delivers their personalities and charms. I also like how the dev handles the main story and a little of the world-building. Small lore fragments are sprinkled all over the assignments. The more you progress, the more knowledge you gain from the clients. It's not the most groundbreaking thing, but this way of storytelling works really well with the game. [*] Soothing Soundtracks: There's a certain magic in these soundtracks that I can't really put my hands on. I have the same feeling with Cobalt Core, and I share the same sentiment here as well. Maybe it's because of the catchy tunes. Maybe it's because of the artful combination of the instruments. They evoke a strange yet soothing melody that fills me with a childhood nostalgia, very similar to Owl City's early works. Whenever the music plays while I am assembling the ship, my mind always wanders back into a specific memory of mine, like I was just a kid playing with my toys under the warm afternoon sunlight. Things I Dislike About Sunshine Heavy Industries: [*] Minor Complaints: Considering the scope of the game is quite small, there isn't much to complain about. 1. More assignments involving modifying existing ship modules would be nice. 2. Lacks a save system in which you can save the most optimized ship modules in case similar assignments pop up, so you don't have to reassemble everything again. [quote=author]If you like what I write, please consider a follow to [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45738167/]my curator page, thanks! 如果你喜歡我寫的東西,可以追蹤[url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45738167/]我的鑑賞家 喔!

A game for those who would buy Lego kits, but built a custom creative design instead. A game for those who enjoy puzzling over space-efficient arrangements of adjacents-dependent components. A game for those who want additional reasons to hate toads.

Such a cute little game. Took me a little bit to get to a point where I was really feeling challenged, but now that I'm there I'm loving every moment of it. Every line of dialogue is fantastic, so much character omg. Seeing all the characters I thought were from Cobalt Core in this feels a bit like reading the She-Ra wiki and realizing every single named reboot side-character comes from there, lmao

A kinda-simple ship building game that's carried with chill vibes, chill music, and fun dialog! I do kinda wish that the ship building had more interesting goals around it. Only occasionally does it say "build as small as you can" or "this part can't be anywhere near this other part". It could have used more varied challenges such as "this *needs* to be this wide/big" rather than "the ship needs this many parts". But the game is cheap, and the rest of the game carries you through! I post this review soon after the credits rolled, so perhaps the postgame has those kind of challenges I'm looking for...
