Tavern Talk is now one of my all-time favorite games. I went into it expecting a cozy fantasy game and came out completely hooked. The first couple of hours take their time introducing everything, but once the story starts building, I genuinely didn't want to stop playing. It took me around 15 hours to finish, and I was invested the entire second half. You play as the innkeeper of a magical tavern. Instead of going on adventures yourself, your regulars do the adventuring while you hear about it when they return. Throughout the game you'll keep an evolving journal filled with character profiles, rumors, quests, recipes, and a map. By combining rumors into quests and serving magical drinks, you influence how those adventures play out. Those choices determine your ending, giving the game some nice replayability. One thing I loved is that you never leave the tavern. I usually enjoy exploration games, but I never felt like I was missing out because the characters tell their stories so well that it feels like you experienced the adventures alongside them. They even bring back ingredients and little trinkets from their journeys. The cast is fantastic. There are over 20 memorable characters, each with their own personality, relationships, and quirks. Some are inspired by real people, some have adorable familiars, and they're all wonderfully animated. Even if you've never played Dungeons & Dragons, you don't need any background knowledge to enjoy them. I also loved that the music changes depending on who's visiting the tavern. The story completely surprised me. I'm usually pretty good at predicting where games are going, but this one kept me guessing until the end. The individual quests were interesting on their own, and the way everything came together was incredibly satisfying. One thing I do want to mention is the LGBTQ+ tag because I'm not sure why that tag is there. The game doesn't focus on romance, sexuality, or dating. Characters have pronouns listed in your journal, but beyond that, the story is focused almost entirely on the characters themselves and the world they live in. So, I don't know why that applies? The overall vibe is cozy with just enough mystery and suspense to keep things exciting. It's relaxing, funny at times, emotional when it needs to be, and incredibly easy to sink into. For me, this was absolutely worth the price. I'll be replaying it for the achievements, watching my partner play through it, picking up the DLC, and I bought the developers second game as soon as I could. I honestly don't have any complaints. I didn't run into gameplay issues, I appreciated being able to save whenever I wanted, and I enjoyed every minute I spent in this world. Thank you to the developers for making such a wonderful game <3

Do I recommend this game? I do, if you're looking for something more similar to a cute fantasy visual story with very limited gameplay. I don't, if you look for a game that can be a bit challenging. The art is cute and pleasant. I appreciated the small details and the little animations. However, as many other people said, it's heavily text-based and there's a lot to read. I personally enjoyed reading the stories the characters had to tell (even if sometimes the dialogues were a little bit TOO much), but if you're looking for a game with a bit more of action or thinking, you should very much stay away from it. I can't say I loved it, but I found it on sale in a moment I was looking for a cozy relaxing game with a fantasy theme and, considering it didn't cost a fortune, I kind of enjoyed. Vote: 6/10

Perfect low energy cozy game for any DnD / fantasy enjoyer ! Nice blend of story and game play with fabulous character designs. 1000/10 already recommended to my friends , and tbh wish I found it sooner!

I enjoyed playing tavern talk. It is very much Coffee talk inspired, and unfortunately doesnt quite get to its level. The story itself is good, beautiful entertaining. the characetrs grow before your eyes and with your help, however the gameplay itself lacks creativity. Each recipe is given to you, there is no search for the right ingredient, or personal creation, the way it is in Coffee talk. the amount of potions is limited, you cant create anything new. After a few hours this makes the game boring and repetitive. Although your choices do affect the story, it is only by chosing one of two options given to you. I wouldnt say the game was bad, i enjoyed playing it from begining to finish. I only feel that it could have been a lot better, when compared to similar visual novels.
