Been a big fan of Princess Maker games since forever, having played almost all games of this genre (Volcano Princess, Long Live The Queen, Magical Princess etc) and this is my thought on this game after I played for a while (an hour) - The game feels a little slow and less immersive compared to newer games of the same genre (such as Volcano Princess & Magical Princess). I do love the skill tree and the ability to carry over your stats from the previous playthrough, and I'm not sure this game will have it. - I feel that the parent of this game doesn't have as meaningful interaction with the daughter, so I feel less attached to the daughter. >>> this still holds through as of 35 hrs playtime mark. Picking to be Dad or Mom doesnt really impact anything meaningful all that much. - would be nice if there's voice acting. (Currently there's none?) - the opening intro was nice with some cool animation and feels very immersive, but it was abruptly cut short and immediately starts the character naming process. I feel that if there's more story to make you feel more attached to your daughter, it could be more interesting. ========================================================================= EDIT (after 35 hrs playthrough) : It's a pretty good game! I find that this game has more interesting characters compared to Magical Princess (the personality and dialogue are more well written, including the NPCs). I find this to be the main charm of this game. (although Volcano Princess characters and story still feel the most intense and immersice IMO) On my previous comments (at 1 hr playtime) : - The game feels a little slow and less immersive compared to newer games of the same genre (such as Volcano Princess & Magical Princess). I do love the skill tree and the ability to carry over your stats from the previous playthrough, and I'm not sure this game will have it. >>> >>> It got better once I got used to the interface and the mechanic of the game. You cant really boost your stats on your subsequent playthrough like Volcano Princess or Magical Princess, but instead you got Fate Cards that you can equip at the beginning of your next new games. Fate Cards can be obtained by completing a specific endings. It's kinda help make things easier for you, although not as much as Magical Princess and Volcano Princess games. Some Fate Cards are kinda underpowered though, and it's almost pointless to get them. You probably will just keep going back to a few useful ones. This makes your subsequent playthrough not necessary all that much easier (there's a maximum of 3 Fate Cards you can choose) - I feel that the parent of this game doesn't have as meaningful interaction with the daughter, so I feel less attached to the daughter. >>> >>> this still holds through as of 35 hrs playtime mark. Picking to be Dad or Mom doesnt really impact anything meaningful all that much. (I play multiple endings with alternate mom and dad choices. It feels roughly the same.) You also cant really interact with your daughter in any meaningful way outside of a monthly conversation (which you cant choose the outcome. You just essentially listen to what your daughter have to say and you can't really answer her back) and vacation. And that's it Additional comments : - there should be more darkness based endings (currently its very little compared to normal ending) - As of now, Yord Aura (the aura you can select at the beginning of the game) seems the most useless. there should be more refinement based endings. (as of now its almost pointless to pick this aura because it doesnt help with any epic important endings or winning Harvest Festival contests, as there are better auras to pick) - Adventure get repetitive and boring quite fast. (there's nothing much to do and collect here). Also, while adventuring, you should also be able to access your quest log or item inventory (as of now its very confusing cus you cant keep track of anything mid adventure). I do like the town shops in each adventure locations though. (but its kinda annoying not being able to access and count your inventory after you bought the items there) - Cube playthough : theres only 2 main romantic events for Cube? and then we go straight to marriage ending (feels a bit abrupt compared to other marriage candidates). DId I miss out on his CG requirement? - there is a 'quest' system here, which I find to be interesting, but the implementation isnt that well done (it's very easy to overlook or forget it, and sometimes the instruction is quite vaque). Some quests are important to specific endings though. - It is more tedious to get minor endings (like career or class based ending) in this game, because unlike Volcano Princess and Magical Princess, you will be locked with just one ending per one playthrough and you cant choose which ending from all possible multiple endings you want to go for. The challenge of getting minor endings is not so much of obtaining the stats but to chore through a set of a few simple repetitive activities. Be prepare for that. - There seems to be a minor bug on Consort (castle character). I met her for the first time during Harvest Festival Banquet and she asked me to complete a "get all art class in A rank" with her. After that, when I met her again at the castle, she acted as if this is the first time we met one another and went back to give me an entry-level quest. this threw me off a bit. Overall its an enjoyable experience. It's a big homage to Princess Maker 2 with some modern updates. The CG are beautiful and the NPCs are charming. Appreciate the effort on this game. I comment a lot but it's only for the love of this genre. I always buy Princess-Maker style games to play and support and I will continue to do so. Keep on making amazing games like this.
This game has flourished from it's earlier access days, and I am glad the current team stuck with it. It's a more faithful Princess Maker experience, with fun characters, lovely art style and a gameplay we are all familiar with, but with improvements. Definitely a must play if you enjoyed PM2, or want to try Princess Maker out for the very first time.
Surprised and happy this project continued! Thank you for the updates! I played tons of PM2 back in the day, the first game where I realized every stat mattered, trying to get all the endings without a guide (needed one in the end ;)), this is very reminiscent of 2 in good ways. At first I thought they were just throwing references around, but actually the writing and the English translation are very good, even at the early access state July 2026. It is already enough of a full game. I appreciate that I don't have to be a father lol (that was also possible in PM5, which I didn't play much of but now want to go play it properly too). There are many sweet scenes. I wasn't really interested in the relationship aspect perhaps because I'm older now or perhaps because I don't allow any nonsense you usually see in media anymore.. this is just me rambling but maybe some people understand. Anyway, the characters can remain as friends too, and the dialogue I've seen has all been nice. I like that there are many cases where you can find unexpected scenes playing out or new dialogues popping up. There are a lot of cool characters reminiscent of the series throughout the game. I imagine future updates will continue to improve everything well. There's lots of dressup!!! Yay!!! ...I probably have more to say since I played this series for such a long time but, anyway I'm enjoying it and it makes me want to go back to the other games too. (wish we could get the original dithered graphics versions of PM1 and 3 in English... they're so pretty)
Thank you game developers for bringing back my childhood dream game with amazing graphics and new game functions (like the diet and restaurant feature). I love that there are female romanceable characters too! I can't express how happy I am right now, over 40 costumes and 30+ vacation CGs?! Just wow!!! Thank you once again for not giving up on this game! I know the team is small, thank you so much once again for pulling through the hardship. I have to say to that there are a lot of princess maker copy cat games out there (on steam), but we all know the best is still Princess Maker. Let's bring glory back to the official PM game!!!!
