*Spoilers ahead* It's like a mix of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Shutter Island , combining 19th-century Gothic horror with a Cold War-era psychological thriller, both exploring fractured identities and dark family secrets, with even a bit of sci-fi thrown into the mix. As a horror game veteran who considers themselves immune to jumpscares, I have to say that some of them genuinely got me here. Definitely a pleasant surprise for an indie title.
The Beast Inside is an survival Horror-Game with Adventure-Elements. I liked the early part of the game a lot but with the progessing story it goes more and more weird (not in a good way). I think the game could be much shorter. The gameplay is functional, more or less. The Puzzles are okay but at some of them you have no clue what to do, if i remember correctly. The highlight of the game are the animations and the graphics. I recommend it to hardcore Horror-Fans. Everyone else could be unhappy with the gameplay and story probably.
I def recommend this game. it had good scares, puzzles, some platforming which I love and the survival horror elements were cool too and the story was interesting, ESPECIALLY THE VOICE ACTING!!! Honestly getting this game on sale for 3 euros feels like a steal cause it was actually really damn damn good and def worth more than that and it definitely deserves to be a more popular title. yes there were some similarities to Amnesia and the game def takes some inspiration it which I think it's a good thing since the games feel entirely different. Overall I give it a 8/10. personal bias cause I love platforming in horror games but I wished there was some more of it though I really enjoyed it in areas it was slightly utilized in but I hoped there was more of it.
