a short, fun and bouncy game! maybe it's not for "serious" gamers but I don't care because I had a blast collecting dumplings

I'm ultimately going to recommend this game, but it is a tepid recommendation due to the increasingly frustrating flaws (almost exclusively due to the absolutely atrocious responsiveness of the keyboard and mouse controls, which result in you fighting not the puzzles/platforming challenges but rather the ability of the game to recognize that you have tilted the screen and/or hit the jump button). Positives: Gameplay basics -- It's a relatively enjoyable platformer/puzzle platformer where you use the arrow keys to tilt the screen and the space bar to jump your roly-poly cat in a quest for dumplings and (really?!!?) fireflies. These are essentially two different sorts of collectibles and hitting obstacles and creatures/enemies will make you drop one of your dumplings (which will eventually disappear if you don't snatch it back in time) but thankfully not the insects. In order to get three stars you have to get the required amount of dumplings (the hardest portion), insects (for 4/5 of the game the most forgiving portion) and beat the time requirement (again for the first four of five worlds, usually not too difficult). Oh, and you also take pictures of certain scenes and moments, including finding new animal friends (yet another type of collectible, I suppose). Fun Value -- It's mostly entertaining despite the repetitive nature of the level design, and mostly easy enough to get three stars for each level, even if you have to replay a level once or twice to get them all. For most of the levels it only provides minor frustration......but that's not always the case...... Aesthetics/Graphics -- You can play this on a potato, and it generally is quite pleasingly cute/colourful and fanciful in its level design, albeit eventually repetitive. Negatives: Controls -- Believe the negative hype......the ability to change the screen's orientation and jump simlutaneously is so very hit and miss as to bring about some (initially brief and not enough to notice, but eventually bloody well omnipresent) frustration as you vainly attempt to proceed through the levels in a timely fashion, collecting the dumplings and insects to gain stars. You can smash that space bar (or whatever) to jump all you want, but it doesn't always register, and it often seems to not work when you're simultaneously attempting to shift the screen's orientation to make an angled jump (increasingly necessary to get the hard-to-reach dumplings and/or insects), and by the time you reach the last world (and then the adventure levels beyond that) you will be conjugating the vilest profanity in your mental armoury about the controls and their lack of responsiveness! Some achievement grindiness and/or bugginess -- While most achievements are quite naturally accumulated throughout the course of level progression, some of the photograph based achievements are rather hit-and-miss, especially the very last one with the spinners on level 29 which may require you to delete a shot from your computer and play the level again if you don't get it just right. And the monster killing achievement requires some serious grinding to finally pop (1000 monsters, really?!?!?!). So, all in all, taken as a whole, it's a charming and largely easy and enjoyable platformer, whose control-based quirks and wonky achievements will eventually bring about great frustration. Recommended with serious reservations......
