I loaded this game up at 9AM on a Friday morning and had to repeatedly apologise to my partner for screaming. 10/10. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3596647231 The Cabin Factory is a spot-the-anomaly horror game set in a factory manufacturing spooky cabins for amusement parks and movie sets. However, due to a spate of reports that the cabins are actually haunted, the cabin factory has hired you to inspect each cabin, check whether it's haunted, and if it is haunted, run away before whatever poltergeist inhabiting it can catch you. It is absolutely terrifying, and I loved it. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3596647612 There is only one criteria for determining if a cabin is haunted. If something moves, the cabin is haunted. If nothing moves, the cabin is safe, however creepy it might be. Each cabin's layout is identical - even if its furnishings are not - forming a weird familiarity to the process of moving through the space. I could step in, sweep through my regular steps, checking whether the familiar things were moving, and then get caught up by something new. At multiple points, I found myself swaying from side to side, trying to decide if a painting's head was moving, or if it was just an optical illusion from the eyes. At other points, an object I'd dismissed as harmless started moving behind me. At still others, movement I'd thought was harmless would turn into something chasing me as I crashed helter-skelter into walls, doors, and furniture, trying to escape. The constant shifting of a nominally familiar space makes the game a deeply unnerving experience. Even in a mundane, safe cabin, the lack of true security leaves the heart pounding and the tension thick. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3596647815 Undergirding it all is the story of the cabin and the people inside it. While the cabins you are inspecting are recreations, they are recreations of an actual cabin. While the story itself is fairly basic horror fare, that there is a developing story and that the various people scattered around the house are trying to recreate it in their own, tormented way adds more to the experience than I would have believed was possible. I wasn't invested in their story, per se, but that these were more than wax figures made the cabin spookier. This is a game with a clear atmosphere and which lives and dies on its atmosphere, and oh, it lives. The Cabin Factory could well be one of the best horror games I've played in a while. It's short, understands what it is and how to make the most of its space, and doesn't overstay its welcome. It thrives in its simplicity, and leaves the player rattled. 25/09/25 Great game, at first I thought it was going to be a short game but don't let that deceive you as there are bonus levels after you complete it the first time. What I appreciate about this game is the use of psychological horror and that they focus only on that. No cheap gimmick or nuisance jumpscare as that it so 80s and 90s nonsense. I haven't finished the 25 levels bonus as I was on a winning streak but I must have missed out something in a cabin for the level to reset. Still, I will definitely try again at another time. One thing that make this game truly stand out against all anomaly games like Shinkansen, Line 8 and Platfrom etc... is that they utilise storytelling, atmosphere and action to make this game engaging and fresh. It is not repetitive as you are going to experience something new and that they go beyond the rules of every anomaly games where you expect the routine to be repetitive other than entering and leaving to make the choice whether there is anomaly or not. I definitely look forward to seeing the sequel or more from this studio. [UPDATE - 26/09/25] - I have finished the bonus levels and completed all the achievements. The game definitely get easier after it become repetitive and common. Still definitely worth playing. Also, the chase scene and invisible sprites are my personal favourites as it keep you on your toes. I hope to see further games like this.

Despite its short length, The Cabin Factory delivers an undeniably immersive horror experience.I love its fragmented narrative style – the story of the protagonist's family appears randomly in the cabins, and you can piece it together little by little through exploration. Sometimes it’s just small details, which require a bit of patience. The sound of wind when entering the cabin and the crackle of the heater give me a deeply immersive feel. The tips at the beginning of the game are crucial, they’re the key to judging whether a cabin is haunted, and that’s whether something is moving. Some cabins have obvious differences, while others require careful exploration. However, the cabins are not large, so you can finish checking them quickly – you just need to pay attention to easily overlooked corners. It’s really creative to design multiple different settings and anomalies in such a small space while creating a tense and terrifying atmosphere. The light and shadow in the room are just right, and the sudden chase sequences are also very exciting. Finally, about the game’s story. Like other horror games, it’s a depressing and tragic family story. But discovering the truth behind this family through your own exploration, and gradually uncovering the secrets hidden behind small details, the more you explore, the more you’ll feel a chill down your spine...

An extremely attractive log cabin with a charming interior and relaxed atmosphere invites you to linger. The people inside are very quiet and reserved. The decor is a true eye-catcher and captivates you with its charisma. I have never felt so comfortable in a house like this before.

Streamers beware! The ambiance audio in parts of this game is pulled from a copyrighted song and your Twitch streams will get muted and you may risk DMCA strikes. "Twitch mode" does not fix this! The game itself is interesting enough. A very unique concept. Definitely worth the 2.99 price tag for a couple hours of fun on or off stream!
