As someone obsessed with the 'souls' genre, this game gave me a good chuckle at seeing how ridiculous it is to be on the recieving end of a player screaming "if it bleeds, it can die". The game itself is beautiful, and although short, it is really well written. At some parts I felt bad for both the hero and the boss... and I even found myself screaming "HAH YOU DODGED TOO EARLY". I also found myself spamming attacks in hopes that it would hit the little scurrying mouse at my feet, which, ironically, is something I complain about in the souls games whenever a boss does that. (I basically became what I hate). Altogether, its a surprisingly fun game and once again, although short, I think it is rather memorable and enjoyable. I can totally see myself playing a longer version of this game (although I'm not sure how that would pan out since the concept is basically just 'you're the boss and this rat is going to end you') If you're looking for a random 20-minute game, this one is pretty worth it.

I enjoyed this game. It's short, it's fun. Some people may not like just an hour of content for $5, but that's up to you. For me, $5 well spent :)

Great concept, great music, beautiful pixel art. You play as a boss trying to deal with a relentless hero, but you soon realize that the game isn’t really about gameplay at all. Between fights, you get the chance to exchange a few words with the hero, and even though the responses don’t lead to different endings, they do affect the relationship the hero and the queen build with each other. The game is very well written, and Souls players will easily recognize more than a few familiar situations. It’s a game about the hard life of bosses, trapped their entire lives in a single boss arena and relying on a limited moveset — but it’s also an allegory about stagnation and change. It takes about 30 minutes, but it’s worth playing at least twice.

It's a cute game with a pretty interesting message, but I'm not sure it's worth the price for how little content there is. The gameplay is fun, I would love to see it expanded further, but again there's not really enough to justify the price tag.

I... don't know how to feel about this game. Concept? 10/10. It's the reason I and many others wanted this game. Execution? So so. It's a fun 30 minute time waster, but that's kind of all the game can be with how quickly you're on the ropes. Loved the dialogue, I was actually a little moved by it. Both the hero and the villain had their reasons to fight, to not give up, and both were worth cheering for. Like most games, the hero was given everything needed to try again and again in hopes of one day succeeding. The problem? You're not the hero. You're at a disadvantage the moment you show an attack, and the disadvantages stack quickly. I've seen some reviews say the AI learns too quickly, but honestly? It feels how a real life player would act. See a move once or twice, and you start to figure out how to prepare for it. That's the problem with the game in my eyes, players learn and they learn quick. It's realistic, and it hits you quickly. So, I'm leaning towards recommend here because this game does everything right for what it is. Unless there's dozens of moves, more phases, and a much bigger health bar, you can't really blame the developer. What I will blame the developer for is the price. Is $6 full price unrealistic for this? Probably not. Is it excessive? I would say so. This screams $4.99 full price at most. $3.99 full price and I'm buying it without a sale. Anyways, love the game, wish it was longer but the concept handicaps it. Would love to see an expansion on this somehow. Thank you for listening to my ted talk.
