Its a little rough in a few spots, ingredients come hard and fast and you unlock everything rather quickly honestly. But I enjoy the biomes and mechanisms towards automating it all. It is grindy, but I like those kinds of games. It also has amazing UX and sound design and _feels_ so good to interact with everything, kudos to the sound designers and UX designers. At $20 there's a game here, and I'd recommend if you want a chill potion-crafting experience to give it a go. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it and where it goes. It has a lot of charm, feels good to play, and is just a nice relaxing game. My Comments: - Ingredients come in batches as you unlock new biomes and mostly you have everything you need pretty quickly. Since a lot of ingredients are a bit redundant until you start pushing more perfect potions later it feels a little bit of a letdown to not discover anything "new". Value for potions of higher power really doesn't justify it. - Top tier potions that really require redesign and effort feel unrewarding. I think the tools from quests were meant to fulfill this want (you need certain top tier potions to advance certain client's level cap and get rewards.) But it doesn't fully do it. The closest joy I got was needing to build machines just to craft specific higher potions for my tool upgrades (though even those are unnecessary in the later game.) Perhaps changing building unlock requirements to "sell X of potion Y" or something might help. - Repairable machines are not clear enough, you can lose an entire line of stuff and not realize why its jammed without heavy inspection. The cute animations are great for machines, but they're very distracting when there's a problem to find. - The game lacks a way to know if a potion isn't going to be bought ever, if it has one, I missed it. I had half a chest of potions waiting to sell that never moved because I hadn't unlocked the abilities of a character to buy them and wasn't aware. These are all pretty minor though all things considered, I enjoyed it and will swing back for future updates for sure to try out whatever new things they bring.

Update: One of the devs got in touch to offer help with understanding the game's mechanics which was really nice and thoughtful and shows they care! I've since started to understand the connection mechanics a bit better with help from friends who already play factory style games, the devs said they want to make changes to system but cant at the moment and may in a few years. I'd still definitely say its hard to get your head around if its your first time playing a factory game so try some other ones first or do ALOT of research/join the discord for help Original review: I want to love it, but can't recommend for anyone who is playing this as their first factory game like me. The tutorial covers the bare basics that everyone can figure out for themselves like movement, putting items for sale etc, but its vague on the actual factory set up part. The connectors fail for stupid reasons and seem buggy when swapping out materials, they don't give you any recipes or explain the mixture combinations system (worked out how mind/soul/energy etc works eventually), some of the mixture seem to be %chance rather than 100%, and I spent more time googling things, especially when things are blocked or broken, than actually playing. It shouldn't take 10+ hours for things to start to make sense.. Otherwise graphics are cute and the game itself is fun. Just frustrating when you can't figure out whats wrong and why your setup won't work.

This is a nice little chill game. Have fun and enjoy, do not stress out over potions it all works itself out and you will find them all. Even through it is not multiplayer, my wife and I compare notes and designs with each other. We do wish for them to make a co-op mode. HINT! HINT! You can play for hours or just a quick day or two in game time.

With almost 25 hours in this game feels weird to not leave a better review. However, the magical mixture mill was not what I originally thought it would be. The game lends itself to a cozy feel of collecting ingredients while navigating a colorful landscape. Most objectives are *craft this many of this potion for this person* and the customer system seemed weird, as there are only a handful of customers that actually visit your shop regularly. Automation system was rigid and simple, which did not allow a lot of room for creativity with room layouts or assembly line design. The Arcane Power system seemed to tedious to engage with (requires a single mixture for only a few seconds of power, i.e., it would cost about 20-30 mixtures to smelt a stack of glass). There's only about a dozen types of structures and each one as non-customizable input and output slots so opportunity to create useful assembly lines was limited. The main story mission ended abruptly with a bridge buildable in the bog that I am unable to reach. Another problem I had with this game was that you could not further expand the selling part of your shop, only the production floor. So after repairing the shelf you can still only really stock 20 potions, which doesn't the player enough space to do sell multiple types of the same potions (factors such as potency, flavor, glassware will all make their own individual stack). If you make stronger potions than you've progressed in you relationship with different characters they wont buy the potion (ahh, yes, only certain people buy certain types of potions, and their relationship only goes up when they buy those potions). So i was making Tier 2 potions and my rogue wouldn't buy my cats eye so I ended up with multiple stacks of cats eyes. This was until I unlocked importing and exporting, which helps but then almost makes you wonder why you have the shop as a middleman and not just sell exclusively through exports anyways since you know ever item will sell reliably. It didn't feel like the main story was used as a vehicle for emphasizing the automation (for the more technical players) or helping players prioritize direction (for younger or cozy players). Anyways, I've rambled. TLDR Pros: Cozy, simple, good music, cool concept. liked Origin abilities and tool enchantment, which made harvesting methods unique Cons: Doesn't scratch itch for Satisfactory/Factorio/Techtonica type folks, tedious resource collection, incomplete automation Liked the game, but feels it has more potential.

I bought this unsure whether I'd like it or not based off other people's reviews, and now I have played it at least a little almost every night since then. That being said, this game definitely isn't for everyone. I would say the biggest gameplay focuses are the workshop/automation mechanics (setting up your brewing stations, figuring out storage, etc.) and then gathering resources. And boy howdy are you gonna need resources. I don't even typically take to automation games, but this one lured me in with its visual appeal and "make things your customers want to buy" gameplay. There's quite a bit of exploring to do, especially while searching for the sources of certain ingredients and such. It felt good whenever I unlocked a new part of the map and had a "oh thiiiiisssss is where I can harvest that!" moment. Things get pretty grindy at some point depending on your goals, but certainly if you are trying to get quests done. I, for one, made it a point to try and unlock all the hats- only one more to go!!! If it helps, the devs are pretty responsive in the community discussions and we get updates :)
