Disclaimer: This is an Early Access review of the release version of the game. The long-awaited sequel of the NON series where it takes you to the next chapter of the story and this time it comes with RPG elements and you get to fight with Lilith side-by-side (alongside others, or don't) . To start off, this is more of a Mixed review since the game is in a state where I wouldn't really recommend it unless you're itching to dip your toes (or go knee deep) with Lilith at the next story of you and her together. I'll start off with the negatives about the game first before moving on to the positives. Disclaimer: I do not play JRPGs/RPG often and I don't have a lot of experience with them, but a friend has pointed out the combat is reminiscent of [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/262060]Darkest Dungeon's. There's a lot of issues right now to settle first, mainly the English localization is problematic at best with some sections, most notably the quest selection screen, where it's still in Chinese so I had to bring up Google Lens to translate it on-the-fly to really grasp on what's going on. There are also other parts in the game where it's still in Chinese like the character creation screen but of course you can always just translate it on the fly to get around so it's not really a deal breaker for me. The second is that it actually took me around ~2.8 hours to get to the guild screen where the game finally opens up to you and allows you to choose your own adventure in a day system. There's no visible UI elements that you can interact with other than dialog choices, the meta game-esque interface that shows up now and then when you make decisions and choices, and the stat changes on the top right side of the screen. I was initially worried that I could not save at all because... there wasn't really an option to until I realized the game does indeed auto save but on specific intervals. It would be nice if during the dialog, just like in the first game, you could have access to the UI controls to hide it at will (say if you want to take screenshots) , fast forward, view the message history, and etc. A skip intro would be nice too, if you're doing second runs, or you want to try out the latest update from the start. The third is the voice acting, there are times actually that the dialog has changed but the voice line hasn't (or there were no voice lines at all) but since this is a release day review of an Early Access title, bugs and issues are apparent (modern gaming in a nutshell) and I don't really have an issue with the Chinese VAs but I'm excited for the Japanese VAs since that's what I was used to in the first game. The fourth is more of a mixed opinion from me, the NON series started out as a visual novel and this game can be considered as a visual novel with an RPG slapped on top, so you will read a lot first and that could put off some people wanting to immediately get into the action to try out how the combat is like. Big issue below, There are actually parts of the game with technical issues where it flatly states out variable names or conditional statements in dialogue and dialogue options. It's either the English localization was rushed and lacked testing causing you to unlock options that you probably shouldn't be unlocking - though I haven't tested the Chinese language so I'm exactly too sure. There's also cases where I spent 600 gold to purchase equipment only for it to mysteriously return the next day and the traveling salesman offers me something for 100 gold and I agree to take it, only for all of the gold disappear again as if I did spend the 600 gold the day before. The stuff from the merchant can't be equipped also, so that was a waste of money. I initially gave Lilith a cloak but after unequipping it, the thing vanished into thin air leaving Lilith cloak-less and me one equipment down. After recruiting Sartre, I spent days 8 to 11 without any gold coins left and quests coming in so I thought I soft locked the game but I realized I should've spent that time training with my companions until a quest arrived on the 12th day. That's kind of on me for panicking though. I also suck ass at the cooking minigame. Onto the more positive side of things... starting off with the art style, I really dig selective coloring - if that is the right term? The next is that it's an RPG—you get to do more stuff... like fight, interact with your companion(s), set goals and that pretty much introduces replayability, if you could bare the rough 2.8 hour start (a skip intro would be nice here). I feel like there could be some improvements along the way that others could happily point out. Yes, there's an em dash up there. No, this isn't written by an AI or machine translated, I just like using em dash. The combat seems pretty easy to get into. There's an ultimate skill (leader skill), and four other skills you can choose from. They're descriptive and comes with flavor text if you like that sort of thing, the UI looks pretty but lacks consistency (I think it's the font?), and there's depth to it that does make you want to strategize with your team's formation since certain skills are better at different ranges. Some nice things to have... would be controller support since I rock a GPD Win Max 2 and I'd like to use the built-in controller to play the game comfortably, there are dialogue options with numbers on them too and it would be nice if pressing the corresponding button would select them. And for now... that's about it. Still playing the game, and still waiting for future updates.

With two hours in, I would like to comment on the issues I find very apparent so far in the EA version of this game, though I do enjoy playing through it. First of all, the English translation is very lacking, often many times there are text boxes left untranslated, uncapitalized, or spelt without proper grammar, of course, the studio is foreign, so this is understandable, but this may deter players away from the game, as the errors are very obvious. The combat system so far feels like a "stat check" system, where you merely press big numbers to defeat big enemies with no strategy involved, though, this is early game, and I see interesting gimmicks like being able to switch formations, so my perspective of this may change in the future. However, I find that the most egregious part that players may find to be an annoyance is that the game disallows you to pause until you've reached the third day of playing. It seems to autosave your progress, so it won't reset, but nonetheless, it should be an option from the very beginning. Lastly, the art in the beginning of the Demon Lord and his minions, I find personally less higher quality than the ones of our party, and it's a little jarring side by side, this is also apparent in combat, where the enemies' art and animations feel a little.. generic? Perhaps because they are early game mobs, this may change as I further play through. Positive comments: Lilith is still a very charming character, and the interactions are funny to read through, though they are slightly butchered by the less than favorable English TL. The art is beautiful, especially with scenes in relation to Lilith. And the story is still fascinating, though it doesn't seem to be as philosophical as it's predecessor yet? Currently, it feels like a simple Isekai anime, the plotline. Though of course, this is written early, the game may surprise me in the future. I hope this studio takes more time to further develop the game and make it the best they can, I'll be rooting for them! Machine Translation to Chinese (Probably not as accurate, but it may express my sentiment for those more familiar with Chinese)

Game so peak that I fall asleep into it and dreams about Dark Lilith coming home drunk and beating me until I feel numb. She kicks me in the ribs until I can hardly breathe. Then she starts to cry and apologizes, begging me to forgive her. She holds me all night as I gently cry into her. Please help is there any hope for me
