I am only 2.5 hours into this game, but so far I am having a blast. First off, I live in Novosibirsk, where the game begins, and it is quite impressive to play a game that takes place in your hometown, even if it isn't a 100% model, it still gets the architecture and aesthetics for the region spot on. As for the actual simulation, the mechanics of operating the train are responsive, and I also get a smooth frame rate throughout. I do enjoy the side missions, as it adds to the game, and gives you purpose in traveling around Siberia. The game does play on Russian stereotypes, with a life meter measured in alcohol consumption levels and food being basic staples, but I find it in good hearted nature, and it's great to laugh at our culture that way. The voice acting seems to have authentic Russian accents, and it does indeed make the game that much more authentic. This isn't your typical Train Sim type of game, but fans of such games will also enjoy this. I do recommend for anyone into Trains or Russian culture.

the game is fantastic, practically my favorite game but I ask you to please add the duo mode so I can play with a friend and adding people transport with these 2 things would be a beautiful game

this game is like playing as heavy weapons guy from tf2 in the stalker world while persueing career in illeagle activitys whilst also being a train operator of the 1980s the games fantastic

Note: Review is outdated as of recent update. I will play the update to see how it is then update my review :) I cannot describe how fun it is to be able to shoot out of a moving locomotive when hunting. Or to steal parts from the hangar and sell them to the scrapyard (the Soviet way). I also think the following are needed: - Storage inside the train to store spare parts - Binoculars to see far (right click doesn't see far enough) - When using wrench to repair the train, it should go into inspection mode automatically - Steam achievments would be nice - MORE mafia jobs - the game can be beaten in 2-3 days Although I do see the realism in that you get what train they give you and you can't complain (very Soviet) I believe it would be fun if there were other better trains that you could buy with money made. This game is great, but it is too short. Having so few mafia jobs makes the game seem like a demo and not a full release. As Early Access, I think this is acceptable. There are changes and improvements to be made, certainly, but I think this is a great start. Once mafia jobs complete there are no more mafia jobs OR regular train jobs. It would make more sense to allow players to keep playing the game by randomly spawning train jobs. Maybe even spawning random mafia jobs too. Then you can play forever :) Because some reviewers complain that the game is not what is described on the store page, I feel compelled to object. The store page lists everything that is already in the game including the "police" which are not your stereotypical Western police. The "police" are the guards standing around that will shoot you if you shoot someone else. The guards would look exactly like Sergei (the one who tells you if you don't do good work you go back to gulag) I think they recently added the weather system to the store page and that is the only thing so far that may be missing. I have to play the new update to see if it is still not there. Overall I'd say it is worth the $22 and is a great buy even if it is not on sale. Maybe after a few major updates the game would even be worth $30.
