Great couch coop trivia game to play with your partner or friend. Only issue is that, instead of focusing on the puzzle side of things Trine keeps and keeps pushing fights into this game when it is not needed at all. No idea why they keep doing this, but take those out and the game is good.
I still can't believe there's another one after this one?! I mean honestly I can't believe there was one after 4. This is a crazy example of an indie franchise sustaining itself because it found a niche that worked for them and I am flabbergasted they just keep the ball rolling. Anyway, that's not really about this game, is it? *ahem* This game really said, you want deep as balls mechanics where skill trees can work solo and in co-op AND you can follow the logic of the puzzle or just make your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ own? Like... Hot damn was it fun to look at something and go, I COULD do it this way... but this way looks much more bonkers so... WHEEEEEE~ Though sometimes I hated doing something so much I was like... ♥♥♥♥ this, simplicity here we go! And I'm only talking puzzles because if you're playing this game for the combat- ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ why? Also I thought it was cool that this time around the incorporation of mechanical machinations was kind of central to the plot. It felt like a natural departure from just the fantastical magical aspect that was integral to the other Trine plots but not so disjointedly so that it felt out of place. I still can't wrap my ahead around a 6th game? What? So that's that I guess. Review over and out! :P
One of the greatest multiplayer experiences of all time. My nephews and I bonded over playing this together, and we cannot be more thankful to everyone involved in the making of this masterpiece. We only just now finished the game after slowly playing it over several years at holiday gatherings. We were sad it was over, but then our spirits were lifted by learning of Trine 6 coming in September 2026! Please never stop making these games. Thanks again!
As someone who as been following Trine from the outset, I can confidently say number 5 is the best entry. Puzzles are fun and often the result can end up with a fun "was I supposed to do it that way?" Levels feel the most fleshed out here, new abilities make for exciting changes and it can be fun to go back to earlier levels and try things a little different once you get them. I am excited to see what 6 brings to the table when it comes later this year.
