I ended up agreeing with the world exactly 50% of the time. I think most people are accustomed to the philosophies of the 'most good' or the 'least harm', but I don't actually believe in that. If there is good and evil then the existence of both implies that a neutral option exists, which the game does not provide but of the two choices one could be construed as 'more neutral' than others. It is perhaps the arrogance of the human condition that makes us dominant, but that in turn also makes us believe that we are more than what we are. I will discuss one and only one choice in this review and that is the very first one you are given: the standard trolley problem. Obviously, less deaths sounds better! And it is a choice. But it also robs you of the choice to stay neutral. Everyone wants to believe their impact, their choices, matter. You see, without the choice there is no morality to the situation. Either 5 or 1 die, and it happens to be 5 in this particular problem. Choosing, which the game forces you to do, is the moral quandry. The dilemma. It is, in and of itself, the good and the bad. The alpha and the omega. The beginning, and the end. But choosing not to choose, is the neutrality. Societal pressure is a topic the game touches upon, and it is that that often defines our feelings of morality. We have been indoctrinated into the cult of culture to follow rules that are ill-defined. But even in complete anarchy, these rules exist in some form. When currency fails, bartering thrives. When the needs of many must be met, societies form. And as wont as humans are today to desire to exit society, on a farm, in the wilderness, or in our own personal castles; the fact remains that we are beholden - even in our need to be free - to conformity. The only true freedom lies outside of that choice. And the only way to not choose is to remain neutral. I choose neutrality.
ONLY GET ON SALE nice little dark humor take on classic trolley problem that devolves into a neat story has some weird moments in where the story feels a bit messed up, so definitely not a game id reccomend at full price i got this for a dollar, and for a goofy game that gave me about just under 2 hours of enjoyment i cant say it was a waste. 6 trolleys out of 10 people
Half the bad reviews are complaining that the narrative is too bias and the other is complaining that it's not bias enough. Both are missing the point. The point is to question your morals some and give you a laugh. You don't get that with pats on the back (now u don't get that with harsh judgement either tbf but that's for a different reason). But, by the end of the day, the game is mainly just supposed to be a dark comedy and it succeeded, for me at least. My only complaint is that the game had a few too many scenarios that were no brainers that and it sometimes picked sides by occasionally not criticizing you. (original price of 11 dollars is also maybe a little crazy so definitely only worth while on sale)
For everyone who is upset about this game, get over it, it is not a literal ethics game. No matter which option you choose, it'll be wrong and the game is just going to tell you how dark this world is and how horrible your choice was. It does make you think, like what would you do in a situation. I enjoy it a lot personally and as a literal person I knew coming into this it was not a legitimate ethics game. This is a casual, dark, comedic, "problem solving" game. Hope this helps clear up all the lame negative reviews. Side note, this would be a fun party game in my opinion.
