A very creative game which is a lot of fun and still provides an interesting challenge. The levels are short but engaging and there is a lot of fun variety that helps make the game even better.

As an experienced chess player and puzzle enthusiast, I can confidently recommend this game. The puzzles present a moderate difficulty level of approximately 7/10, offering sufficient challenge without being overly demanding. However, the difficulty curve lacks consistency throughout the game's progression. Notably, advanced levels (90+) feel comparable in complexity to early stages (10+), which may disappoint players seeking escalating challenges. Despite this inconsistency, the game delivers a solid overall experience.

King always reaches checkmate. PROS : Unlock The King is a sokoban style chess puzzle game. The goal is to move various chess pieces around a confined board to clear a path for the king to reach the goal. Though simple at first, new mechanics are introduced such as buttons that move the tiles around to create new pathways. The puzzles have a simple design to them, making finding the solutions rewarding for a lot of the later challenges. The design is simple & minimalist, with little in the way for visual flair, though the soundtrack is fairly haunting thanks to that approach. CONS : The game comes with 100 puzzles, & offers little reason to go back to play them again, unless one wants to go through an extra playthough. Thankfully, that really is the only flaw this title carries. ACHIEVEMENTS : For those who love chess, this list will come easy. All of the achievements are unlocked for clearing out all of the puzzles. None stand out as particularly difficult, but a few can test your knowledge when it comes to piece positioning. FINAL : Unlock The King is a simple but fun chess puzzle game that does exactly what it sets out to. Though there is a limited number of puzzles, the slick design helps one easily ignore that. It just does exactly what it sets out to do in a satisfying way, designed to complete at one's own pace. With an low price on top of that, I can easily recommend this game to anyone looking for a set of fun chess puzzles.
