March 2026
My friends and I have been playing Walk of Life pretty consistently since it released, and we’re still finding new ways to challenge ourselves. One of the best things about the game is the replayability. Almost every day we try something different, whether it is playing a new role, cranking up the difficulty, or experimenting with weird challenge runs like doing a no-work run or seeing how far we can get without paying rent. The game really supports creative strategies like that, which keeps it fresh. The newest update has been great too. The Scavenger role has been a lot of fun and adds another interesting way to approach the game. If I had to mention one downside, it’s that pets don’t seem to give nearly as much bonus XP as they did in the previous game, so they feel a little less impactful right now. That said, the developers have been doing an amazing job so far. They’re very active and are already releasing new content even though the game launched pretty recently. Overall, we love the game, we love the devs, and we’ve had a ton of fun with it. Definitely recommend if you enjoy experimenting with different strategies and runs.

ADDITION: (If you want to see the review, scroll down) I purchased the game when it first got out and play a little now and then. But I have to add, that the devs are constantly updating the game with new interesting features and gameplay elements and their dev-blog comes out regularly with informative stuff about new updates. So this game keeps just getting better and better! First of all: I can totally recommend this game IF you have at least one person to play it with (online or local - it has Steam Remote Play together). If you know No time to Relax (if you don't, scroll down): Walk of life takes every aspect of NttR and improves it, e.g. different Jobs now have different advantages. Also they implemented new gameplay-features like roles and more which in total really give the game an overhaul, in a very good way. The runs now feel more unique than in NttR and different playstyles are possible without "throwing" the game. So if you liked NttR, this game is just for you! I you don't know No time to Relax: Walk of life is a neat game with a unique art-style and a board-game-like gameplay. But in a very unique way. It's best with at least one other human being. Over different rounds you have to compete with each other in different aspects like e.g. Job experience or happieness. The rounds play different with different playstyles and events at the beginning of each round. The game is funny and fun to play. So even if you know or don't know No time to Relax, my recommendation is the same: Buy it! :D And thanks to the devs for making this gem of a game! =)

A better version of 'No Time To Relax' in every single aspect. I like No Time To Relax, but I doubt I'll be playing that again now that Walk of Life is here. So much more replayability and different playstyles. I also like the style and humor this game is going for. 10/10 would play again

Fun game, make also option for unlimited turns, 30 is not enough. Something like "Just One More Turn" to enjoy your labor for a while. :)

I loved No Time to Relax and have been obsessed with this game's demo. I'm pleased to report the full game holds up, even in early access. It's just as fun but there's so much more to do and more ways to diversify how you play, making it way more replay-friendly than NTtR. They also added some MUCH-needed quality of life updates, like the pawn shop and a cheaper (but understandably crappier) fridge, a pawn shop for cheaper furniture, and a park to help you meet needs for free. The random chance events feel more tied to the main game, too, and less arbitrary, which is a small bonus but one I want to call out. I do have one major criticism though and that is the utter lack of hover tooltips. Most traits, attributes, and other vital UI and menu information is only depicted with icons and hovering over them does not give you any more information (e.g. job perks at the job office, traits acquired from bonus(?) degrees--see this is what I mean, I don't even know what to call those certificates with traits--in the Academy), which I would call a full-blown accessibility issue. Even things you can hover over, like traits and items in your menu, sometimes haven't even been named yet (e.g. I found a job trait called "No translation found for 'trait_job_mall_T1_title' in base", which I assume is a bug). I know this is early access so I expect some rough edges but I sincerely hope this becomes a priority for the dev team to resolve. It doesn't break the game, necessarily, but it makes it orders of magnitude more confusing and frustrating to play. I also kind of miss being able to middle-click to pull up my inventory, but that's comparatively small potatoes. Finally, I miss the marathon mode! I get that it'd be harder to translate to this game since there's no way to permanently max out attributes, but maybe there could be some other kind of endgame, like meeting all of your role's goals? Only playing against one CPU opponent is also kind of disappointing. I wish it was more like Mario Party, where I could choose how many CPU players there and their avatars. Assuming hover tooltips and better descriptions for everything is in the pipeline, Walk of Life is fixing to be No Time to Relax's superior successor. But non-superfans might want to wait for the fully polished release before investing their money.
