I am not too familiar with Warhammer content, aside from playing some of the more recent games with friends. Nor did I ever have the chance to play any of the Twisted Metal games which I believe this is inspired by. I *have* however played a ton of Vigilante 8 on the N64, so this had sounded like it was right up my alley. GOOD NEWS, it very much is, and I'm having a ton of fun with it so far! :) I'm also happy to support a game that made the switch from a F2P model to a one-time buy. Shout out to the developers for that! And as well for their work on bugs. I've been fortunate enough to not run into anything major myself, atleast not that I've noticed, but it seems like they're jumping onto things quickly. For Steam Deck players: I didn't do any thorough testing myself, but this *seemed* to stay above 30 fps at low settings, but it may jump around some. I say this as someone that prefers 40 fps as a comfortable minimum. Honestly I had more trouble aiming with a stick since I'm bad at that lol, than the framerate feeling choppy. I say this to atleast offer an idea of how this may run for you. Lastly, I used the WAAAAAGH chat at some point and like half the server, including enemy players WAAAAGH'd back and it was one of the most delightful interactions I've had recently hehehe.

Making this a positive review because I genuinely do love the game, and the devs have shown that they built this with love and that they listen to the community. It's a super fun time and I recommend it to anyone that like racing-combat games of ANY kind - it really does scratch the it for a lot of different franchises. However, there are some big issues that I've noticed and I do hope get addressed/fixed/smoothed out by this wonderful dev team, so lets do a little pros/cons list. Pros: • Art style is phenomenal all across the board and I think it fits the aesthetic of the WH40K-meets-Twisted-Metal vibe the game has very well • They managed to make a driving game that actually feels good on M&K which is kinda crazy 'cause that rarely ever happens • Devs are very open, communicative, and responsive, which a lot of dev teams aren't and it can lead to communities dying out • Vehicles are super cool and the variety is awesome (would love to see each vehicle have more weapon swaps than just the primary, though) • In-game community is super chill (I keep running into the same people and it's become kinda this common pre-match thing to dap each other up with the front bumper while spamming the ork screams) • Game is just good-ol'-fashion fun, makes me feel like a kid playing Blur or Twisted Metal again Cons: • Some weapons feel like they're shooting pebbles while others two-shot you from across the map - the drill car and the motorcycle rely HEAVILY on their gimmick and the actual weapons on the vehicles themselves feel like they do almost nothing, while both of the tanks have ridiculous damage output • The amount of people per vehicle really needs some kind of balancing limit - having 4-5 people on each team just camping the Stompa as tanks makes matches really slow and dull • The Stompa - good god dude, I swear this thing is the Antichrist. 200m away? It's sniping you with pinpoint-accurate machine gun fire. Get close to it with the bomb? It traps you in a never-ending telepathic slam attack until you die. • No host migration - constantly getting matches dropped because the host is on the losing team and quits halfway through a match is insanely aggravating • No in-game chat besides pre-set comms - I do love the ork callouts, but having a way to actually communicate with your team, whether text or voice, would be amazing • Explosions are prone to send you flying underneath the map until you die • BIG explosions are prone to cause random split-second frame drops • If you're holding the button to accelerate when you respawn, about 70% of the time your car will just lock up for a few seconds • Lots of minor visual bugs (I know those won't last long knowing this dev team's efforts so far, just worth noting) But yeah, I love the game, just needs some balancing and polish and it'll be genuinely perfect. Grateful to have good, fun car combat for the first time in a long time.

So dont let my playtime fool you, I played the hell out of the beta and it was great, zero issues - honestly. Then the game launched....and woah boy.... couldnt even connect to a single game no matter what. I wasnt the only one with this issue, so I joined their discord and started giving my take in their general chat room. After some discussion with other players and moderators, one of the devs reached out to me and other's with the same issue to bring us into a test for the fix. Not only was it amazing that the team behind this game was actively listening and responding, they brought the players into the process of fixing it IMMEDIATELY and they FIXED IT! I have had ZERO issues since and that fix took probably 6 hours total? from others having it to me and then being fixed. No micro transactions shoved down your throat. The game throws back to twisted metal and its Mad Max meets 40k. 16 USD for something this polished is a steal, jump in, go really fast and blow up stuff, then jump out when you need to for real life. 11/10

I don’t think I have ever written a game review, but the unique charm of this Speed Freeks and the tough situation it is in compels me to speak up. It’s clear this game was made with a lot of heart. Maybe it’s ignorance on my part, but it scratches an itch I’ve never felt satisfied by in any other title. I love the Ork fantasy setting, the distinct abilities of each car. The customization system is also a pleasant surprise—currently tied to in-game challenges instead of locked behind DLC (for now?), which I really appreciate. The maps are large and thoughtfully designed, with enough environmental obstacles to make every race-and-gun battle require just the right amount of strategy—without losing the adrenaline rush you’d expect from high-speed combat. That said, the game isn’t without issues. Matchmaking is a particular pain point, and at launch there were only around 250 players online. While the bots do a solid job filling in for missing players (in my ammeter opinion), I’m genuinely worried that the game might fade into obscurity due to a rough launch and limited marketing. It would be a real shame, because the foundation is here for something special—if the developers can justify investing further time and resources to polish it. If you're even mildly interested and can afford the price of admission, I really encourage you to give it a fair shot. If you run into matchmaking trouble, try restarting the game and see if it grabs you before the refund window closes. I think you’ll know within the first hour whether it’s for you.

If you are a fan of vehicle combat games this is a must own. It's well optimized, fast paced, has tons of customization on load outs and vehicles, offline bots and the multiplayer works great. It's great to see the orks get love with such an oldschool fun concept executed very well at a great price. plays great on mouse and keyboard too
