★★★★☆/★★★★★ I played We Were Here with the same person I later played through the rest of the series with, and even the first game immediately won us over. The basic concept is simple but incredibly effective: you are separated from each other and can only communicate via radio. This constantly creates situations where you have to explain things to each other without actually knowing exactly what the other person is seeing. What we especially enjoyed was how important communication really is. You can't just run around quickly or rely on knowing a solution from the internet. You have to listen, communicate clearly, and figure things out together. Especially when playing with someone you get along well with, this can be incredibly fun. We also really liked the atmosphere of the castle. The environment feels mysterious and, at times, even a little creepy, without constantly relying on cheap jumpscares. Instead, the game creates tension through isolation and the unfamiliar surroundings. Of course, you can tell in some places that this is the first game and that it doesn't have as much content as the later entries. For us, though, that wasn't a problem at all. On the contrary, it works wonderfully as an introduction to the series. For two players who enjoy solving puzzles together and can laugh about their own communication mistakes along the way, I can definitely recommend We Were Here . For us, it was the perfect start to a really great co-op series.

Had fun with this: solid choice for remote play with a friend. We even played it for a second time with swapped roles (which went much more quickly, but it was fun to see what the other person had been seeing this whole time) You are not supposed to be able to hear each other at the very start of the game, so don't assume voice chat isn't working. There's an in-game system for it.

Видно, что это первая игра разрабов. Выглядит чуть сыровато, после более поздних частей играется уже не так весело. Проходится за час максимум. В целом, зашло, но загадок маловато как будто. Спасибо персишке за совместное разгадывание <3

Once you get past the terrifying moments, everything works great. The walkie-talkies turn into pure chaos, you and your duo will be just screaming at each other the entire time, thinking its not a horror game.

A competent little coop puzzle adventure. Escape-room adjacent, but with a more linear chain of puzzles. Be aware when selecting roles that one player will be responsible for clue giving for most of the puzzles and the other player will be responsible for obeying instructions given to them by the solver. If you're in the wrong role after the first puzzle, consider restarting and swapping rooms as it continues that trend throughout the rest of the game.
