This is great! No really, it is. I can sit there and never start the game because I'm shooting stuff. My horse is special and can't look me in the eyes yet manages to ride straight. My teammate is one of a kind, and isn't always helpful. I steal from anyone and everyone and anything, its not nailed down its coming with me. I'll fight you just because I want to fight you or maybe your lazy eye was staring at me. Either way, I get a choice of classes to kick your digital ass. More towns and locations than I can shake a stick at. Loads of secrets and funny stuff, the more you play the better it gets.
This game feels like if one of your best friends made an entire crudely drawn, but very mechanically competent game that becomes legendary amongst your friend group. It's hard to describe, but it has that sort of homebrew feel to it, and you can tell that it was made with a lot of love and passion. The witty dialogue and descriptions are super entertaining, and the world building had me engaged and invested the whole way through. Though I wish I knew more about the clowns and cows and their history, I suppose some mysteries are best left unsolved. This game is an absolute blast from start to finish if you can get over the slightly grindy nature of the leveling system, but then again, isn't that just the way of the rpg? Regardless, this is easily one of the best rpgs I've ever played, and after posting this review, I'm going to dive right into my third playthrough.
Pros: - Great Music - Easy to follow mechanics - Difficult Puzzles - Good Humor (I can tell it wont suit everyone) - A fun theme and world built Cons: - There is no going back except starting a new run - It can get pretty grindy - It can be easy to lose your place and forget where you are - Little things matter. This is both good and bad as it creates a more connected world and gives the feeling that your choices do actually matter. But messing up or doing something at an earlier point just to find you've locked yourself out of quest lines or something else can be frustrating. Overall: 8/10
