Sometimes the smallest games manage to tell the most heartfelt stories, and this is one of them. ♡ Through fragments of Eda's past and her relationship with Owl, you slowly uncover a bittersweet journey about love, loss, grief and learning to let go. It's short, beautifully hand-drawn and tells everything without a single line of dialogue. The gameplay itself is simple, mixing point-and-click puzzles with hidden object elements as you explore each scene and interact with your surroundings to move forward. Nothing felt overly difficult, which I personally really enjoyed because it allowed me to focus much more on the atmosphere and narrative rather than getting stuck for ages trying to figure things out. The artwork was probably the first thing that made me fall in love with it. Every scene looks like an illustration from a storybook, with soft colours and so many lovely details. There's an incredibly warm and comforting feeling to it, even as the journey becomes more bittersweet. The music deserves a special mention too. The soundtrack, especially the violin, is absolutely gorgeous and plays such an important part in the game. It feels like another way of telling Eda and Owl's story, with certain melodies following you through their memories and becoming more meaningful as you slowly understand everything they've been through together. It's definitely bittersweet and a little heartbreaking, but I wouldn't call it a completely sad game. At its heart, it's about grief and the pain of losing someone you love, but also about everything that comes after. To me, it felt much more like a journey of slowly learning to accept that loss while still cherishing all the wonderful moments that came before. Short, simple, gorgeous and incredibly heartfelt. I bought it while I was grieving; the game portrays that experience beautifully. It's about remembering the beautiful moments, going through the hard times together, and always being there. I played this game and it hit me really hard. Going through it feels like stepping right into Eda’s memories. Some moments are warm, and others slowly get heartbreaking. What I love most is there is no dialogue, but you totally get her loneliness, her happiness, and eventually her grief. It’s not just about losing someone, it’s about how Eda learns to accept it and keep moving forward and that part really got me. Life doesn’t stop, even when we wish it could, and the game shows that in such a gentle and beautiful way.
I’m giving this a good review because the puzzles in this game are done really really well. I really enjoyed that aspect a lot compared to other puzzle games I’ve played. It’s also a beautiful/aesthetic game. But honestly I think some of you are lying about the story. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I got to the end and was more ??wtf?? Did I just watch. That being said, still a great game.
