pros ✅ stunning looking and detailed pre-rendered 3D graphics ✅ nice little story about a teenager searching for his lost archaeologist father and a legendary pirate's treasure ✅ character models and cutscenes looks decent ✅ when you press the space button, hotspots are highlighted, so there is no need to pixelhunt ✅ fun to solve and enjoyable puzzles with typical old-school adventure game-style solutions. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items ✅ lively background music perfectly fits the game's general atmosphere ✅ there is a nice variety of interesting and likeable side characters ✅ decent voice acting ✅ there is a quick travel map, which prevents some backtracking ✅ there are steam achievements ✅ there is auto and manual save ✅ there is a tutorial in the beginning cons ❌ game is short ❌ there are no cards ❌ the rushed and unsatisfying ending gives the impression that the story hasn't concluded yet and leaves room for a potential sequel ❌ the game is overpriced considering its short length and full price. Just buy it on sale. Overall, this is an decent and enjoyable point and click puzzle game.

It's a nice little point & click adventure game. Characters are interesting (albeit a bit typical); voice acting is amazing; the story is nice and it doesn't overstay its welcome; art and animations are great, they make the game stand out; puzzles are on the easy side (no moon logic whatsoever), but the non-linear aspect of the main portion of the game really helps make them more fun (you usually have to explore many different areas to actually find what you need to solve a puzzle somewhere else); and while the last minute of the game was a bit meh, the overall ending is quite fine (if a bit childish). Achievements reward exploration of the scenes and hotspots (some are even for clicking on things that aren't a hotspot), and if you miss any, and don't have a save in hand, once you know what to do, you can get the ones you missed in less than 15 minutes even when starting from scratch. I was looking for a little adventure to play and be done with in a couple of sittings, and Willy Morgan definitely did not disappoint

The young Willy Morgan travels to the mysterious 'city' of Bone Town to investigate his archaeologist father's disappearance, ten years earlier... Don't let the awkward start put you off of this game! This is an enjoyable point&click adventure game targeting a younger demographic, or at the very least targeting those young at heart. The first section of the game is rather tedious but the pacing improves once you get to Bone Town. After spending the night in the inn you're free to explore that town's many locations. You'll be doing a lot of exploring, talking to NPCs and figuring out what item is used where in typical point&click fashion. There's no 'moon logic' to be found in this game, right up until the finale, but I won't spoil anything about that by discussing it. The game world has quite a few notable unused objects that might just be there to add flavour to the world or might be a relic of a scrapped plot line from earlier in the development process. The copper gutters are especially noteworthy, to the point where they felt like a city-wide red herring. All in all I'd recommend this to fans of the genre. Just keep in mind that you might not be the target demographic, age-wise. PS: At no point in the game does the protagonist carry a lantern as depicted in the banner and icon for this game. False advertising! :P

Fun little point & click mystery puzzler game. I love the art style- stylized, and very clean- timeless style that ages well. Lots of back and forth, but not too long into the game you will get a map that can be used for fast travel. Some easy and obvious achievements, some missable and very easy to miss. The game isn't long, so playing through a second time to get them isn't bad, or *if* you created saves in the right places you may be able to load older save to go back and pick them up. Some funny easter eggs that give nods to other fairly well known games in a similar genre. Good humor in the game, if you like somewhat dry, sometimes almost cringy teenaged boy humor. (Middle-aged woman here- and I cackled a few times, when the protagonist reminded me of my own son, who was overly serious and a bit nerrdy when he was a teenager. Hell, he's an adult now, and still overly serious and nerdy. Love you Michael! :D ) ***Accessibility*** No colorblindness settings, no UI or text scaling- some fonts used on notes and such are not going to play nice with a screen reader, and for colorblindness you will have to rely on machine system settings. No audio needed- no audio clues, though some sounds do give certain scenes a "punch" , but the subtitles for dialogue and labels on items you can interact with that are needed for the puzzles are pretty good- should be playable for Deaf and HoH gamers. Some of the puzzles are a bit vague and can be frustrating because you have to go from place to place and do things in a certain order to solve them or progress to the next step. Could be frustrating for people with certain types of neurodivergencies. No timed puzzles or interactions, so you can take your time and you don't need to worry about button mashing. Can be played with mouse-only. ******************************************** A hidden gem for point & click lovers and puzzle game enjoyers here on Steam. Full price may be a bit much for people who get stuck on the $$$/hour metric, but a steal at 90% off like it is right now (time of review). Likely to go n sale again i you missed it this time. Personally, I would be fine with full price- I enjoyed it a great deal (and I am not financially strapped). If you have a tighter budget, wish list it and pick it up on sale. Absolutely recommended- like I said, a hidden gem here on Steam.

A early game for someone interested in relaxing puzzles ‘Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town’ is an interesting game. On the one hand, it has accessible puzzles, a unique look playing with perspective and deformity in a kid-friendly sense, and a slow pacing ideal for point-and-click adventure game. On the other hand, what keeps it from being great is the writing. It is heavy on the exposition, especially early on. I never felt the emotions of the main characters, but I am happy I played it once the puzzles started, as it was nice and intuitive. The weak points The characters. As in the whole cast. Couldn’t connect with anyone, despite it being a fully voiced game. Don’t get me wrong, no one was annoying or tedious, it was all just… meh. The entire plot, story, and characters just all felt lifeless to me. Either being bland or stereotypical to the extreme. As mentioned, very heavy on the telling rather than weaving storypoints into the plot. And some… questionable dialogue around the end. What I mean by that is, they got weirdly sexist about the mother at the end. I got the impression she was an adventurer, like the rest of the family, and that was why she was off. But then they talk about her fainting, and the father wanting his fifteen-year-old son (at the time he planned it 5 year old son in 10 years) to carry on solving the mystery, because he didn’t wanna burden his wife with the responsibility. It was just so bizarre lines… I mean sure, mom would have an extreme reaction, but why chose one that seemed so against the character type? It is so weird, because it was both so casual and so utterly unimportant to the rest. The strong points As mentioned, the puzzles are the high point of the game. Which is great for a point and click adventure game. None of the solutions are obtuse, and the pacing of the story lets it make sense that you are slowly figuring stuff out. The gameplay is very intuitive, and if you have any experience with games in the genre, I recommend just skipping the tutorial. You look with right mouse button, interact with left button, and open your inventory with ‘i’, that is basically all you need to know to play the game, because you see the name of important stuff you can interact with when you scroll over it. I hesitate to recommend this as someone’s ‘first’ point-and-click adventure game, because of the problems with exposition and the less than great cast. Someone on the fence about the genre might be scared off by that. BUT if you are someone, who loves the concept of the genre, whether you are experienced or new, then this game is a good addition, because it gives you the relaxing experience with room for trial and error. A title that is both beginner-friendly and friendly for all ages.
