I was just playing this game with my brother enjoying the cool enviroments and guns. i don't really have anything bad to say about the game except for some of the physics are bad and there is no bridges like in worms armageddon. I was enjoying this game with my brother on this exact cold winter night in finland until a worm crawled up my ass and started spinning like an anal drill i continued playing the game until the big worm crept up behind me and told me if i was quiet and didn't move it wouldn't hurt as much, don't know what that was about but i can say it was a wild night.

Worms Clan Wars, developed and published by Team17 Digital Ltd, represents one of the studio’s most polished iterations of its long-running turn-based artillery series. Released in 2013, the game refines many of the ideas that had been introduced in earlier entries such as Worms Revolution while attempting to reestablish the franchise’s multiplayer identity through deeper customization, improved visuals, and dedicated clan-based online play. At its core, it remains quintessential Worms—a chaotic and strategic competition where teams of tiny, wisecracking worms blast each other to pieces using bazookas, exploding sheep, banana bombs, and a vast arsenal of comedic weaponry. What distinguishes Clan Wars is its focus on community and shared play, both locally and online, expanding the classic formula without losing the humor and unpredictability that have made Worms a staple of multiplayer gaming for decades. Visually, Worms Clan Wars delivers the most refined presentation the series had seen at the time. The game uses a 2.5D perspective, combining traditional 2D gameplay with fully 3D environments and lighting effects that lend each map a sense of depth and dynamism. The destructible terrain remains the centerpiece of the experience—each explosion reshapes the battlefield, creating new strategies and hazards as the match progresses. Dynamic water mechanics add an extra layer of chaos: floods can drown worms, erode terrain, or shift the balance of power mid-match. The thematic diversity of the levels also keeps the action fresh, ranging from ancient ruins and Viking battlegrounds to steampunk industrial zones. While not revolutionary, the art design and animation retain the series’ whimsical personality, with expressive worms, exaggerated destruction, and a lively color palette that fits the tongue-in-cheek tone perfectly. Gameplay in Clan Wars follows the familiar Worms rhythm: each team takes turns moving a single worm, using weapons, or positioning themselves strategically before ending the turn. Victory is earned through a combination of tactical precision, environmental awareness, and a bit of luck. Clan Wars introduces refinements rather than major changes, building on the class system from Worms Revolution. The four worm classes—Soldier, Scout, Scientist, and Heavy—each offer unique advantages that subtly influence team composition and tactics. The Scientist, for example, passively heals allies and excels with utility weapons, while the Heavy deals greater damage but moves sluggishly. These differences create more depth in planning, though the balance remains gentle enough that players can still succeed with any combination of worms. The weapon selection, featuring more than sixty tools of destruction, offers both returning favorites and a handful of new additions that keep the carnage unpredictable. From jetpacks and teleporters to airstrikes and explosive animals, every match maintains the playful sense of absurdity that defines the franchise. The single-player campaign provides a structured experience with a light narrative featuring the eccentric inventor Tara Pinkleton, voiced with delightful eccentricity by Katherine Parkinson. Spread across twenty-five missions, the campaign mixes standard combat encounters with puzzle-style levels that require creative use of weapons and movement tools. While the humor and charm of the dialogue are consistent with Team17’s style, the campaign itself serves more as a tutorial and light diversion than a core attraction. The true heart of the game lies in its multiplayer, which has been significantly expanded and modernized in Clan Wars. Players can create or join clans, design emblems, climb ranked leaderboards, and compete in cooperative or competitive matches. The integration of the Steam Workshop allows for user-generated content—new maps, landscapes, and custom items—which gives the game an impressive level of longevity. These community tools, combined with the series’ timeless mechanics, make the multiplayer experience both endlessly replayable and deeply social. In motion, Worms Clan Wars captures the essence of what makes the franchise so enduring: its ability to balance tactical thinking with spontaneous hilarity. Matches often unfold as a mixture of skillful shots and spectacular blunders. A perfectly timed bazooka strike can demolish an entire enemy squad, while a mistimed grenade or overpowered jetpack can send your own worms tumbling into the sea. It’s this combination of precision and unpredictability that continues to make the game such a joy, especially with friends. Few multiplayer games are as capable of producing laughter and frustration in equal measure. Clan Wars excels at fostering this atmosphere, and the introduction of clan competition amplifies it by giving groups of players a reason to keep improving and returning. Despite its strengths, the game is not without flaws. Many players and critics have noted that while Clan Wars polishes the existing Worms formula, it does not dramatically evolve it. The series’ mechanics remain largely unchanged, and for long-time fans, the differences between this and earlier versions can feel incremental. The campaign, though charming, lacks compelling challenge or narrative depth, and the artificial intelligence remains inconsistent—oscillating between laughably poor and supernaturally precise. Furthermore, while the number of weapons and customization options is impressive, the limited set of environment themes and the absence of groundbreaking new mechanics mean the game occasionally feels like a refined update rather than a bold new entry. Still, for a series as time-tested as Worms, refinement may be exactly what long-time fans want. Ultimately, Worms Clan Wars succeeds as a love letter to the franchise’s core strengths: clever tactics, explosive chaos, and humor born from disaster. It offers a more modern and accessible platform for both casual and competitive play, bolstered by its focus on clans, online integration, and player-created content. While it may not win over those seeking something entirely new, it stands as one of the most complete and feature-rich Worms experiences ever released. The balance between classic gameplay and contemporary presentation makes it an ideal entry point for newcomers and a satisfying continuation for veterans. Worms Clan Wars reminds players why the series remains relevant decades after its debut—it’s endlessly entertaining, deceptively strategic, and always capable of turning even the most serious match into a moment of laughter-filled chaos.
