Mixed reviews is outrageous This game is incredible, truly amazing But people are so tiktok brained that they aren't willing to put in the minimal effort (aka reading) in order to learn the game

Important tips for the new: The user agreement only applies to people in China. It doesn't appear at all unless you started the game in Chinese. There's a way to insert cards, which is explained in a loading screen tip, but I'll repeat it here. To insert a card, hover it over the slot you want it in, and wait for the other cards to shake, then drag it slightly left or right to indicate which way to push the other cards, before releasing. There's a lot of guides you can read, and many of them are on Steam. In the Yi Xian discord, there's a pinned link to an organized list.

Yi Xian is a unique auto-battler with a focus on engine-building with your cards rather than units-shooting-units positioning. The goal is to build a sequence that will overwhelm the opponent, scaling your damage over multiple rounds. There's a decent balance of viable builds that you can shoot for. The card translations are all decent, I can think of only two where I did not understand what they did on first read. The single-player options help flesh out the playtime, although the Primitive Uncharted Realms mode is not as full featured as Slay the Spire and the translation for the Story Mode is a little rougher. But fun puzzle modes like Double Fifth provide a distraction too. The only thing that I will caution is that Yi Xian is on the complex side of card games. Keeping track of your resource generation, while planning on your exchanges, while you only have at most 90 seconds or so between rounds, all takes a lot. Don't be upset about making mistakes early on because this game gets a lot of people. But overall I've found it a lot of fun.
