I had a hard time deciding between a thumbs up or down. It's a fun game, with great graphics and music in my opinion, there's variation in the circuits, and I even enjoy the arcadey driving mechanics (traffic and all), but it presents a lot of questionable design choices otherwise. Generally there is very little consequence for the player's choices - little room for balancing risk and reward, and that's what I think is useful to expand upon. There are multiple cars with varying characteristics, but they can all be upgraded to the exact same performance (which is not obvious from the start), so acquiring them is strictly an achievement hunt affair. I haven't done the math to see which car is the best deal (one of the middle ones that don't need much upgrading to max them out), but the game prompts you both to upgrade your car often, and that it's cheaper to just buy a new one. One of the upgrades (the radar) is useless as it announces the police the instant it also appears on screen. The cars need maintenance in the form of refueling and repairing, but there is no strategy here involving benefits for risking to delay it, or consequences for wrecking the car completely. The price is always proportional to the damage and the tow truck even puts you back in the middle of the race. I do like that there's a minigame whenever you run out of money, you're never screwed. The missions appear randomly, and if you decline or fail them they apparently do reappear, but only upon first playing new tracks. If you're out of tracks you need to create a new profile, but you're then offered the missions starting from the first one all over again, so you'll have to basically replay the game. At the starting line, when waiting for the green light, there's no sweetspot for a boost, you're just discouraged from revving early but that's extremely easy to avoid. And other little stuff like this, where there's only a simulacrum of choice, and the jokes justifying it don't really hit, which make the game feel not well thought out. I think it's a decent game on the border of being great, with not much updating needed to get it there. I do recommend trying it out when it's on sale, but don't get too involved in its achivements and such, like I'm doing right now, because it gets frustrating.

[url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1381440/80s_OVERDRIVE/]80's OVERDRIVE is an entertaining outrun-style racer that can be completed in just a few hours. If you're a fan of retro games like the one shown in the video, you'll find it satisfying, even though the gameplay is fairly straightforward. It definitely hits the nostalgic spot, but don’t expect anything too complex. The game runs smoothly on the [URL=https://store.steampowered.com/steamdeck/]Steam Deck , but a quick tip: make sure to accept every mission offered to you. Otherwise, you may need to replay the game to unlock all the achievements! 7/10

This game is a retro game inspired by the game Outrun. In this game, you do races to get money to buy new cars, upgrades, and fees to do races. If you don't have enough money for the race you can wash the character's cars to get cash to make enough to do a race. There are missions you can do that are simple to pretty annoying like being in a certain position to get money. For upgrades, you can upgrade speed, armor, and steering. The game has races that are short to long. You can get nitro but are limited to 2 per race and radar that shows cops that are close to you in the race you are in. The cops when you go past them try to stop your car after a few attempts then leave you alone. There is traffic that can be hard to get past If you're in a race that has tight lanes. I beat the game, but the last race was really hard since you have to have nitro to beat the last race because it's impossible to win without nitro. The soundtrack of this game is pretty good. I have a few songs I like but that's the plus for this game. At least when you're doing races and need to restart a race you can do it as long as you like without paying a fee until you leave the game completely making you have to pay the fee for the race again. For other races, you need to get stars to progress in races by placing first place in the races. There are other things you can do in this game like time attack like the outrun series and making your level to try it out. I only did those to get achievements but that's about it. Best to get this game on sale since it goes for pretty cheap. I give this game a 7 out of 10. I hope my review makes you think twice about getting the game. Have a good day.

Tonnes of fun. Thanks to whoever mentioned the tactic when against BOBG. Worked wonders. 2nd try against him, used both nitro within the first 1/3rd of the race and then swerved across the road side to side for the rest of the race, occasionally hitting him. True 80's style.

A kinda descent effort to modernize the OG Sega Outrun All in all 80's Overdrive gets my recommendation but misses the charm of it's predecessor. Campaign is extremely repetitive and "too easy" with its only highlight the final race. Driving is simplified without much need to slow down since the car feels railed to the road. Time attack which was very iconic and dare I say fun in Outrun, here is a mindless time waste without requirement for skilled driving. The pixel art aesthetic is what sealed the deal for me and for the generous 85% sale that this game goes nowadays, I can't complain. Also it's a pretty easy game to 100% if you're into that.
