Very nice lil adventure game! Def a must play if u like Uncharted, Indiana Jones or the good Tomb raider games (you know the ones with actual tomb raiding..) Its like a much shorter indie version of those games minus the action + Very nice puzzles (only few of them were kinda weird/boring, while the rest are great) - A very few puzzles could have been reworked to be better (i.e. the early 4 disc puzzle could have given us an actual puzzle instead of just placing the 4 discs, each into 1 slot) + Great progression, nice amount of everything from story related "mundane" things to exploring ruins and puzzle solving +- Sadly its kinda short (unless you get super stuck somewhere u'll beat it in 3-4h), even tho you do explore a lot of locations so it doesn't feel as short.. Either way, would have loved if it was longer (just expanding the correct selection of the levels/sections would have made it longer and better without feeling like its dragging on) + Great story, nothing new or revolutionary, but fits the adventure tone perfectly! + Beautiful locations + Nice chars (obv its a bit dated as its a remake of older games so you don't have that many chars, but honestly its great) +- As the game is an older game remade sometimes the transition from 1 scene/area/"gameplay" into the other feels a bit "fast" like it could have given us 2more mins of playtime or something to better connect + Very nice graphics + Nice final boss (altho they could have made it overall a bit better/harder) + Very nice ending, altho they should have added a min or two to make the ending feel more "finished" Would love if a game like this got a good budget for a new game as it could have the potential to be an amazing adventure game/series (I wouldn't expect this to be a new/next Uncharted, but hey if done right it could get close to games like Uncharted and welp getting close would be an huge achievement of its own!)
An overall okay game given the small presumably budget and small team in the credits ( it goes on sale for less than a euro ). It has an okay fitting music which at some parts is quite good. The visuals are decent, the performance of the voice actors is cheesy but does the job and the small elements of platforming and the grappling hook are a nice touch. The puzzles, which are the main attraction of the game, have a nice variety, are simple yet hold some unique features and overall give a nice feeling of accomplishment without being irritating. The plot is basic and is not that engaging. The gameplay is clunky to the point where even going forward sometimes might be a hurdle. It is a remake to remaster level of game for the Adam's Venture trilogy games and compared to them it has some advantages and disadvantages. On the positives are the removal ( for me ) of the black smoke interaction, which frees up the game to be more calm and chill as an experience. Of course the visuals are a big improvement and the overall gameplay has been smoothed up. On the other side, collectibles are not there anymore and some of the parts of the game have been removed, thus resulting in a shorter game. Achievements wise, you get 13 of the 15 it has just be completing the game and the other 2 just by putting a tiny effort of a matter of a minute or two extra to go out your way. You can gather them all in one playthrough. For the price it asks on discount, it delivers a few hours of calm and decent puzzle solving time with some platforming and for that it is recommended, especially over the originals games, which i believe are also available on steam in a bundle called Adam's Venture Chronicles, for anyone that may wanna experience them too. It runs flawlessly on the Steam Deck.
This game is a newer easier version of Adams Venture Chronicals. I played through all of both and really enjoyed them. The puzzles have been simplifide and there is less achivements so it's easier to 100% it. Both games deal with Bible topics, but this one requires less actual Bible knowledge compared to Chronicals. This is one of those games like Tomb Raider, or Indianan Jones, or Strange Brigade, but without any shooting or intense action. If you like archaeology and puzzles, but hate anxiety this game is perfect, they even got rid of the stressfull boss fight from the end of Adams Venture Chronicals.
