Hours Played: not nearly enough ( solving puzzles, admiring my moustache) Recommended? YES Personal Award: “Majestic Moustache” Bought this game thinking it is a calm detective story. Instead, I got Hercule Poirot sass-slapping suspects with his Belgian accent and solving crimes using 80% logic and 20% eyebrow raises. You play as Poirot, who is essentially Sherlock Holmes if Holmes had sarcasm. At one point, I spent 15 minutes trying to open a drawer because I didn't "observe it from every possible angle of the known universe." Poirot wouldn’t dare touch it until I had admired literally every molecule of the wood grain. But I can live with that. PROS: X Poirot’s voice is smoother than a Belgian chocolate truffle X The puzzles make you feel smart (until you realize you’ve been trying to use a shoehorn on a typewriter) X Elegant murder mystery vibes - no gore, just smug glances CONS: X Occasionally gets stuck in a doorframe like a gentlemanly Roomba X Poirot judges you for clicking the wrong thing .. and I felt that in my soul SUMMARY: It’s like Clue had a baby with a PBS special and raised it in a French art museum. 10/10 would accuse someone dramatically over tea again.

If I were to give this a grade, it would be C+. The story is on the slow side and the narrations aren't smooth as one person talking to another should be. I absolutely hated the piano background which is the same through out, no change. And the foot steps - ARGGGH! NO ONE COULD EVER POSSIBLY BE THAT LOUD WALKING! Also not crazy about the Art Deco-ish style of drawing. But that's just personal taste - you may love it. I must also compare this to the later Sherlock Holmes series put out by Frogware. You get the same questions to be be answered by various clues that you chose, but done so much better by Frogware. The questions here can be answered by clues that you correctly pick by process of elimination. I've never read anything by Agatha Christie so I can't compare this game to her book. But the ending is a complete surprise and saves the game for me. If it's on sale, sure go ahead and try it.

6.5/10 Point and click adventure game based on a famous book (keep that in mind if you've read it already, since the game generally follows the same plot). It has puzzles, dialogue choices and deduction elements; all of pretty average difficulty. The art style is very pleasant and if you're looking for a point and click game that's not too demanding, it's a great choice. As for the game's flaws, it has minor problems with controls (objects not examining correctly when clicked, which makes talking to characters or looking at things a bit hard sometimes), but it doesn't affect the experience too much. Also, there's no in-game save system, but all the saves are stored on the device anyway, so they can be reloaded manually by the user. Takes around 6 hours to finish if playing thouroughly (clicking on optional objects etc.), a bit more if achievement hunting - in order to get all of them, the player has to either go through 2 playthroughs or play once and restore saves at a certain point in the game (I'd recommend a guide for this). Keep in mind that if you want to take the one playthrough + saves route, the game will require you to make wrong choices (poor responses and terrible conclusions) for the donkey achievement line - so for the full experience I'd recommend one playthrough with your preferred choices, and then another with a guide. Concluding, I'd totally get it on sale, and maybe for the full price if you're a big fan of Agatha Christie or this game genre.

Story-wise this is practically the perfect book to game adaptation both in how few changes are made, how necessary those changes are in the change of medium, and how it tells the story to you. The deduction part of the gameplay is great and many of the puzzles are pretty good but I must admit in this department it's far from perfect, it's very oties-point-and-click if you will, for good and bad. Overall tho this is so far the best agatha christie adaptation and I'd say better than most of the sherlock holmes games too, so it's a definite must for fans of the whodunnit.

I have neutral feelings about this game. It's a decent game for what it is. I felt like a shortish mystery game and overall I was satisfied. The story is fairly interesting, I enjoyed the various interactable puzzle items in each location (not only "click spots in the room to investigate"), and after doing a second playthrough to try being a donkey XD I found it cool to see how characters respond to you differently based on your responses However, the gameplay is pretty clunky, there are a few glitches, and (my personal peeve) the voice acting left quite a bit to be desired. Possibly worth a try on sale if you're a fan of Agatha Christie or just in the mood for a short point and click mystery
