Age of History 2 is a strategy game which is hard to explain, the AI can easily be manipulated and makes often questionable decisions like for example, a weak minor nation boldly declaring war on a much larger empire only to be obliterated, mind you from halfway across the world too. The game also has a lack of in-depth combat as armies upon fighting battle to the death and have a 100% fatality rate with no retreating involved, the population and economic figures also appear to heavily revolve around the 1440's which is the best scenario to play as it has cores and is a more accurate setting whilst WW2 and Modern World lack any sort of cores or event line ups and have every territory independent, example, Bermuda is independent from the UK in the Modern World scenario despite being an overseas territory. The Victorian Era is where I have the largest issue as it is in such a good time period for a strategy game yet lacks so much accuracy. In the Victorian Era, Africa is depicted as empty despite having a vast array of kingdoms and tribes densely packed into it in reality. This problem is also present in North and South America as none of the Native Tribes are anywhere to be seen. Brushing these issues aside the game has a huge sandbox focus and it is fun to play on maximum difficulty and aggression and watch the world slowly form large empires, and not so fun to watch the mortifying border gore. I recommend you download mods to have more fun because they tend to fix a lot of issues. Regardless, if you like a turn based strategy that can have literally anything happen, play Age of History 2

Age of History II looks simple at first, but once you get into it, you realize how deep it actually is. The map covers the entire world and you can play as pretty much any country, from ancient times to modern day. Whether you want to build a peaceful empire through diplomacy or crush your enemies with military power, the game gives you that freedom. The best part is how flexible it is. You can rewrite history in endless ways: make small nations rise into global powers, recreate old empires, or completely change the outcome of major wars. Every campaign feels different, and there’s always another strategy to try out. It’s not perfect. The interface can feel clunky at times, and the game can be overwhelming if you’re not used to grand strategy. But once you get the hang of it, it’s incredibly addictive. Hours disappear without you realizing it. If you enjoy history, strategy, and the idea of controlling the fate of nations, Age of History II is absolutely worth it. Do I recommend it? Yes, especially for strategy fans who like having total control over world history.
