Honestly, going into this game, I expected a little, somewhat short game about automating the brewing of various alchemical supplies. I did NOT expect how fleshed out it is, and while it isn't perfect (why are belts slower than advertised?) It is a Really really fun experience. This game is much more focused on building compactly, which is also obvious in the choice of building sizes, basically everything you build is tiny, transports tiny items, and seeing little catapults fling items across the map is a joy. The complexity is also fairly high, which for me is a big plus, though you can also just slap something together that just works if you don't enjoy a huge amount of complexity. My biggest issue is really the lack of Full automation for the planters in the early game, but that is solved later. You can also challenge yourself by going for one of the three absolutely bonkers achievements, clearing the game in 50 days, with no customers, or with only the starter plot. Or all three at once. Overall, I really enjoy this game, and often find myself thinking about how I'd rebuild parts of the factory even when I'm not playing.

If you're playing it for the factory aspect, it's really good. My only disappointment is that as someone who really loves the wonder of alchemy, there's not a lot of stuff to make you feel at home with the building in this game. It's almost purely focused on the factory part and not much on the aesthetic of your typical alchemist house. Lacks decoration, paint, nice emissions on the potions you're selling. Instead they're sold in these leather sacks instead of glass vials. I get the idea that they wanted you to be more of a peasant which they did a good job of, but personally I would have my purple robes and glass vials over leather ball sacks and lackluster potions. It certainly is an alchemy "factory" game though, and it really does do a great job at that. It's early access and I'm not expecting them to change their art direction, but it would at least be a little nice if I had the option to put a door down and color my walls purple. Maybe some hanging lanterns or something. I love automation and played the hell out of Thaumcraft on MC, so if you're into that kind of thing then this is pretty nice. But again one of the luring factors in Thaumcraft was its amazing aesthetic, mixed well with the automation. It also had a smidge of exploration which I can see the potential here with this game considering you can leave the castle. I hope the devs read this, I see a lot of other reviewers saying much of the same thing so I figured I'd put my two cents in with hopes that this is read, and received well. I think I'll love this game and play it for easily a hundred hours more, just wish I could feel more at home while I spend such an absorbent amount of time here.

This game gets very detail heavy very quickly. I requested a refund personally, but it's likely a good game for people who like factory games, and the maths, and the re-working involved. It needs a sense of "why". There is no "why" for what you are doing and no "homey" feeling like you are building something for your character. Possibly there is a "homey" feeling but the curve is so steep you don't get to bask in it. You are sweating from the first bits. It's all about what you like in games at the end of the day. For me the details need to come slower and there has to be a "why" to it all, a sense of building something meaninful.

I've only just started but I can definitely see it has great potential. I normally wait for reviews to come out before I buy a game, but my Satisfactory itch was acting up so I took the risk and bought this game as soon as it released. What I'm enjoying so far is that everything is nice and small so I don't have to waste a bunch of time running around as I did in Satisfactory. My factory's were never efficiently grouped, and my power was always going out so I would have to run clear across the map to get it back online, but you don't have that here. Just a nice small town with many buildings you can purchase to expand your factory. There are plenty of upgrades to keep you busy. It's also refreshing to be in a town with other people walking around. I found satisfactory could feel a little lonely being on a planet by yourself, but here you have a shop to sell your items to the locals to make some extra cash. So to end. I have nothing but good things to say so far, and my hope is that the developers will continue to pour in as much love as the clearly have done so far. I also hope some of you other gamers will buy it and make some tips and tricks videos for me, for I am dummy.
