This is a trip down nostalgia lane.. 🥲 So many memories and hours spent in the editor and with mods back in the early 2000s, such as the [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Way9sRl7s1Y] Warhammer mod , [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUzPZiPEst4] zombie mods , etc. I remember it being so damn scary when my brother and I played a co-op mission and had to try and avoid/escape zombies in pitch dark while fixing a truck. And I remember making the most stupid missions in the editor as a kid, e.g., trying to cram as many crashing planes and Russians screaming "vodka" and "mama" as possible into one area 😅 Of course, the original campaigns were also amazing (and insanely difficult) at the time. After 25 years I can finally play [url=https://images.steamusercontent.com/ugc/40078417460167389/954392F626CB0DB8C0B705A036617C5600864CA9/] the game with view distance set to max (5000) 🥹 . Also works great on ultra-wide (21:9)

I first played "Arma:CWA" when it was formerly known as Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis. It caught my attention as a young boy who wanted something MORE than an fps.... a comprehensive military game, that let you go where you want and fight how you want. I spent dozens if not hundreds of hours in the PC gamer cd demo for the game, where it let you fight one scenario over one town with one squad on your side and facing a similar force in strength. I then went on to spend the next 20 years playing ArmA games. It has been a very rocky journey but with reforger now working in most ways I would like it to, I have never been more excited for the future of ArmA. If you are a new player to the series or a new player to first person mil-sim in general and want to check out the origins of the first person "mil-sim" this is the ONLY place to start. With this repackage of Operation Flashpoint you get all three original campaigns. Each of these progress through different perspectives of that side of the fighting. One moment you will be fighting under-strength as an American soldier who was only thinking about going home in a few weeks while waiting for much needed reinforcements The next you will be infiltrating into a soviet armored repair base as an ODA operator or commanding a squadron of attack helicopters on a strike mission. The highlight of these campaigns in my opinion is the Resistance campaign. This campaign puts you in the shoes of a former special forces operator now living the life of a civilian on the island. You must then scrounge men, weapons and supplies, every mission folds over into the next. Did you lose your machinegunner and forget to pick up his pkm?then you no longer have a machine gun, and of course your recruit is gone too. This is one of the clunkiest, clankiest, frustrating in terms of controls, ui, ai, etc. but it is without a doubt one of the most fun older games you can buy, super recommend.

ARMA: Cold War Assault (originally known as Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis) was a major breakthrough in the FPS genre when it was released. It was the first actual milsim or tactical FPS I ever played and for early 2000's it was breathtakingly beautiful. A radical change of pace from the run'n'gun derivatives we were all so used to.

The game that taught me the true meaning of "realism" in gaming. I mean, who needs a social life when you can spend hours trying to get a tank to move 5 feet without getting stuck in a ditch? In all seriousness, ARMA: Cold War Assault is a game that will test your patience, your skills, and your sanity. But if you're up for the challenge, it can be incredibly rewarding. The game's attention to detail is impressive, with realistic military tactics and equipment that will make you feel like a real soldier (minus the whole "getting shot at" thing). One of the things I loved about the game is the sense of immersion. The environments are beautifully rendered, and the sound design is top-notch. I found myself getting completely absorbed in the game world, even when I was stuck in a never-ending loop of "try to get tank unstuck, fail, repeat." Of course, the game isn't without its flaws. The controls can be clunky at times, and the AI can be a bit wonky. But overall, I found that the game's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. So, would I recommend ARMA: Cold War Assault to others? Absolutely. But only if you're a glutton for punishment. If you're looking for a game that will challenge you, frustrate you, and maybe even make you cry a little (I'm not ashamed to admit it), then ARMA: Cold War Assault is the game for you.
