I love this game in its concept and I want it to succeed. Guys, for the love of God please listen. This game has so much potential, but you're killing me. It's a business game, but there is no place for a business tycoon to see what is going on... only disparate screens completely disconnected. Please, please, please... Show me 1 screen where I can seen what I have committed to, what materials are coming in, and what is being produced - and the expected completion time. THAT is what a business leader needs. I don't need 4 screens entirely disconnected, guessing what materials I need, or when I can complete a contact. PLEASE, do an executive panel.
I actually enjoy the game quite more than I thought I would; but there are a few rather big problems with it and my main problem is that the game feels somewhat abandoned. The good is that the game is like a really fun car-tycoon game, except its tanks so theres also things like guns and armor. Theres quite a bit to research and at least feels like theres multiple research trees for different nations. Creating tanks is fun and theres quite some knobs to turn to make things better. The list for the problems is longer however. This starts with the game having insane loading screens for everything. So every time you want to change something like research or production or order materials or anything you get a loading screen. Now these are short, admittedly, but seing how many screens you will open this is still soooo annoying. The second part is the rediculous requirements by nations that big-time drains the fun. So how selling tanks works is not you offering them to the market but countries placing orders for certain tank-types and you have to make an offer so lets say England says "Id like 20 trench clearing tanks" you can say "id do it for X euros" and they'd chose one company to do it. Now while I first thought this was a good solution, I hate it now. First, its just stupid that in the middle of a world war where you'd think everyone takes what he can, I have hundreds of Tanks sitting ready for battle in storage that I'm willing to sell for almost-free and noone buys them cause they dont want medium tanks right now but rather light ones. But theres two more problems with this. The second one being that you have to produce exactly what they want. So youd like to try building your medium tank with strong anti-infantry capabilities? Nope, they want hard firepower so thats all that matters. So your really fun Tank-designer becomes less "wow I made a great tank" and more of a "I solved the puzzle to produce the exact tank they want". And third and last - Countries usually only want 1-2 tanktypes and there is a clear "best" tank for each category. So lets say your main countries are England and US and they send you the most orders - eventually they will change their tank-preferences to a new tank and will do so rather quickly so instead of the Medium Tank they now want the advanced light tank. And if you didnt research the right things for it , youre now screwed. You could build the most amazing advanced medium tank ever but they dont care. Its just luck deciding if the tech you chose is the one required. The final problem is that youre only capable of playing as England - which is kinda fun to play dont get me wrong, but there are really interesting German, French or whatever tanks and you can only build them if you want to roleplay (and lose) since the game really wants you to build the English ones with foreign guns and engines. This also doesnt seem to change soon as the games updates are very rare and lately limited to mod support to let others finish their game to the point of it feeling abandoned. All in all, I had quite a bit of fun with it, but then again, I'm weird. Your milage will vary quite a bit and I would bet money that quite some people will be dissapointed with it.
Well, the game still needs some balancing, but I really loved it. By 1930, I managed to develop all ERA 3 upgrades (world was still using ERA 2 until 1939), by that becoming the worlds biggest war definer. I choose to back countries with low survival rate and managed to create some small monsters, that could even defeat giants like Russia or America. :D Was waiting for the ERA 4 designs to unlock, but by 1941 it seems they are still not in function. The PROs: - Well designed game with good tycoon elements. - Continous development on UI and game functionalities - Tanks, tanks and tanks, a lot of them - Fun to play for a tycoon maniac The CONs: - Still not a full game and that is visible - Core war mechanic needs a lot of rebalance (too many tanks ordered, not used wisely or functionally in wars, etc.) - AI still lacks the understanding of "balanced" tanks - Tank roles and designes do not really count after a while, you can overcome them with better upgrades or stolen tech - Only playable as British manufacturer Nevertheless, wtih all it's flaws, it's a very good game, can't wait for all the new features that will be included, mostly MODs.
