**Astronomics – A Brief Review from Someone Who Keeps Wandering Off to Other Games** Astronomics is a fun little space‑romp where you zip around the galaxy, gather resources, upgrade your ship, and pretend you totally understand the tech tree (you don’t, but it’s fine). It’s got charm, it’s got color, it’s got "asteroids" (and "pirates" (ya... don't get your hopes up with that) -- that look like they were designed by someone who said, “What if all asteroids were basically the same... but have different colors.. and there is a bit of risk added by having little laser-firing 3d icons.” That said, it’s also a bit underwhelming. Not *bad*, just the kind of game where you’re happily mining space‑rocks one minute and then suddenly thinking, “Hmm… maybe I’ll go play literally anything else for a bit.” It’s enjoyable, but it doesn’t quite have that gravitational pull that keeps you in orbit. Still, if you want a breezy, low‑stakes cosmic adventure with a sprinkle of meh and a whole lot of “Ooh, pretty... pretty much the same,” Astronomics delivers. Just don’t be surprised if you drift off to another title mid‑mission like a distracted astronaut who spotted a cooler shiny rock. I may keep on playing; however, I may not. If you purchase it - make sure it is on sale!

If you don't like grinding, best to stear clear of this game...and the rest of this review! Graphics Everything is ♥♥♥♥ and span within its own genre and style. Every item, unit, ... is nicely detailed and sharply edged. It never has a wow factor, but it all fits the athmosphere they want to convey. Gameplay It's a fun concept and the further you progress the more complex it gets. Choices will have to be made. The tutorial could do with a bit more clear guidelines as to how certain things work. The short explenation given does not cover enough specifics to understand what the benefit is, nor how it exactly works. Finding out is rather costly (time and resource) and generaly not worth looking into not to loose too much. Each sector quickly ramps up difficulty and you see yoruself fighting more then mining after moving to the more pirot heavvy regions. A breather with less activety would be nice from time to time and it isn't worth lateron to return to the calmer areas since those resources are not realy used anymore. I now usualy play in shorter bursts in stead of a long extended at a time play. But I still play. It captures ones interest hard enough to still push through, cause the game does get repetitive after a while. Once you've reached a certain system there realy isn't that much variation. Overall Absolutely recommended for many hours of grinding. But as said in the beginning, don't even try if you are not the grinding type.

Drop on to an asteroid for 20 minutes or so and grab everything you can before it drifts out of your work area. Use workerbots, miners, and other tools to speed up collection, fend off occasional pirates, and shuttle as much as you can back to your freighter. The aesthetics are great - design, color, and animation fill out low-poly models with depth and expression. Subtle but effective world building, satisfying music, and smooth, intuitive controls make for an immersive and compelling experience. The game loop is fairly short and seems repetitive at first glance, but an extensive progression system, procedurally generated maps, and shifting encounters keep the experience fresh and inviting. The building and crafting components give overtones of a much more complex game, but each mission is kept on a timer and every gameplay mechanic is designed to work well in this context. This makes for a low-stakes, chill experience that's satisfying for a quick 20 minute mission or two, but scales easily to an afternoon working on bigger goals like unlocking a new mining tool or map area. For an early access game there aren't a lot of bugs, though some of the mechanics aren't fully polished yet. Looking great so far, with a roadmap that suggests more great stuff to come.

A fun mining game that starts off very simple and ramps up into more of a strategy game as you get more equipment and larger asteroids to mine. Progression is tied to jumping to new stations, and I've made it to station 3 out of 8 (possibly? Not sure how many are currently in the game in early access). + The timer on each asteroid isn't too punishing if you go over, and it makes the gameplay more interesting, I think, as you're often trying to set up equipment as quickly as possible to mine for you. + Control scheme is simple and works pretty well, you aren't fighting it too often. + Music is calm and fits the vibe. + Asteroids are varied enough where you can do a lot of different strategies. + Low-poly art style is pleasing to look at. - Manufacturing could be x5 faster, and I think it'd still be too slow. As I'm writing this, I'm waiting for some materials to process down so I can warp back to the station. It's slightly better if you leave it running while you're mining, but even then, I've had so many times where I just sit there waiting for some resources to process. - Combat doesn't feel like it adds too much, though maybe it gets more interesting further into the game. I've seen shields and turrets, so maybe those help it out. - If you're on a slightly different elevation as an enemy, you can't shoot them. - It does feel a little grindy at times. I've only made it to the third station, but still haven't completed most missions at the second station because of the massive amount of manufactured resources you need. - Having to constantly swap tools on the bot is a little annoying, since you basically always want the grabber equipped. You always have to swap between the mining laser, the blaster (whenever enemies show up), and the scanner (usually only used once per asteroid). - In terms of bugs, nothing too game-breaking. But the worker robots get stuck pretty often, which can be really annoying.

Astronomics is the initial 20-30 minutes of a factory game over and over again. The core gameplay loop is that you land on a procedurally generated asteroid and have to quickly devise a strategy for extracting as many resources as possible from it before it drifts from your mining claim. This sounds stressful, but it's actually quite relaxed. The music and art style contribute to this chill atmosphere. If you like that initial thrill of exploration rather than painstakingly optimizing a sprawling factory, this is the ideal game for you. For me, this is the perfect factory game.
