July 2025
I absolutely loved it. Not just the soundtrack, which couldn't be a better fit for this game, but also the beautiful visuals that make it a truly unforgettable experience. Let me get this out of the way: this is the first rhythm game I've ever played. I know there are some other titles out there, more popular or with better sales — like Guitar Hero — but they never interested me. I think I first saw this game in a friend's library, and the one thing that caught my eye was Avicii's face on the game's cover. I friggin' love his songs. And although I was a bit reluctant at first, I figured I should at least give it a try. So, I bought it. And I'd be lying if I said I did not enjoy it big time. The inputs are very much in sync with the beat, giving you the feeling that you're actually playing Avicii's song on a real instrument. You press the right key along with the music, you shift to one track or another and flip sides depending on where the note is — this can get really difficult and messy depending on the song. Unfortunately, the game doesn't feature an online multiplayer mode which I think it's a huge miss. Sure, you can invite a friend over, connect a controller and play together, that is if that friend happens to LIVE NEARBY. It would have been really fun to play with some steam friends, and challenge each other remotely. There's a leaderboard for each song and each difficulty. No matter the score you get, the game is going to assign you a rank. And it's kind of funny to see people with 250% or 477% competition rates or people that scored 15000 or 20000 more points than those that the song actually gives. It's pretty obvious that they're cheating, right? I wonder why the developers don't seem to be doing anything about it. The game lets you remap each key. I didn't feel quite comfortable with the default mapping, so thank you for giving us a way to adjust it a little, much appreciated. As you steer your spaceship — spinning around a planet's orbit right before jumping into the next one, skimming across a gray sea, flying through a cyberpunk city or even a psychedelic forest crawling with trees that look like they came straight out from a fairy tale — the backdrops of this game always deliver. Each one, along with their props, has their own unique and catchy aesthetic, they all feel mesmerizing and visually stunning. I bought the 2 DLCs available. Each one adds 5 new songs to the base game. If I were to pick just one of them, I'd personally go for the Tim Pack since it contains songs from his last album that I personally like more than those in the Magma Pack. Favorite songs I played: The Nights, Levels, Heaven. Big misses: The Days, Blessed(this one really hurt the most, it would have been perfect for this game, too bad they couldn't afford to include it). 9/10 "One day you'll leave this world behind so live a life you will remember" ◢ ◤
