If Element Studios combined the best of Axon TD with the best of Element TD, they’d make one TD to rule them all! Axon TD is a solid tower defense game. It has an excellent gameplay with mazing as a core-feature in combination with a variety of towers. This opens up for creative and personal solutions in each level you play. It also allows you to explore different viable and interesting strategies. Because you’re rewarded randomly after each wave, one game is often different from another. With that said, it’s not perfect, and that’s why I mentioned their other game: Element TD (2). Basically, it lacks the originality and concept of Element TD. While Axon TD is fun, it also comes out as a generic TD – both in design and aesthetically. The enemies are mostly similar looking robots, and while they mechanically differentiate from each other and possess some interesting abilities, you never really know which robot does what because they appear so identical. The content of Axon TD is great, and if you like the game, you can expect good value for its price. There are several modes and challenges to engage in, and it even has a campaign. This probably comes down to personal preference, but I didn’t like the campaign-story. It was cliché, and the protagonist was quite annoying. I honestly had to skip the last third of the dialogues and cutscenes because it became too painful to watch, but the levels were fun to play. So yes, it does have some flaws, but in its most important aspect – the gameplay – it’s quite good, and if you like tower defense games, you will probably like this too. The devs are clearly competent in this genre, and I hope they will take what they learned from Axon TD and make Element TD 3.

One thing I miss from some of the other TD's is mazeing/routing. This game highlights it in such a great way. Not only that, but the campaign has a great sense of progression, a fun story, and gradually increases the challenge in an exciting way. I haven't explored it yet but coop is available and PvP will be soon. Lots of great features from a category that sometimes leaves you wanting more. Overall its really one of the best TD's I've played and definitely worth the price.

I put hundreds of hours into Defense Grid 1 and 2 and have never found any other tower defense game that scratched that itch until now. Axon takes what made DG great (the pathing and mazing) and builds on it with the ability to totally change the map by adding and blocking tiles to make the enemies go exactly where you want them to go. Replaying a map allows you to take a different approach every time, increasing replayability and making the traditional TD grinding (for XP and unlocks) even more fun. I'm really enjoying it so far and look forward to many more hours of play thanks to the built-in map editor and Workshop support. If you love Defense Grid, you'll love this game.

A good tower defense game, need to think and reasonable planning, the placement of the defense tower will directly affect the enemy's line of action. The game can be customized to edit the map, playability is relatively high.
