At this point I've spent over a day of my life playing this game and I don't regret it one bit. The gameplay, visuals, sound fx, and music are all great but what makes this game even better is the fact that it's simply mesmerizing to play. I was not expecting that when I picked this up. Playing the game feels hypnotic like it lulls me into some kind of gamer trance. I love it! Rarely does a game lure me into starting a new game+ but this one did. You can complete the game again with a harder difficulty using your same farming town and playable characters. You can keep going after that if you want with a new game++ and so on. Saw a guy in the forums on ng+14.
Who would have thought a roguelite that is part brick breaker, part city builder and part Tetris could be so damn fun? It has a relatively fun gameplay loop which can keep you entertained for hours at a time (or all night if you suffer from 'one more round-itus') It's not too challenging so it's a great game to kick back and relax with. Music is actually pretty good so I'm not always throwing it on mute to listen to things on the side. Has a great cast of characters who all come with their own quirks and require different playstyles. It stops things feeling stale when they aren't all reskinned copies of each other with different weapons. There's actually a lot of thought and creativity put into making them pretty unique to play
It is pure mindless fun. Never too challenging but always satisfying. It commits fully to the core mantra of "combining things is cool" and just pushes it to the extreme. The town building in between rounds is just as addictive and I was pleasantly surprised at how unique and distinguished they made the unlockable characters. Of course, it's also got the sauce with super satisfying visual and audible feedback which kept the synapses in my monkey brain constantly firing. On top of all that, I also appreciate that the game knows when to stop and doesn't outstay it's welcome. There's a hard end here and after 30 ball induced fugue state hours, I felt satisfied I'd seen it all. There is endgame content like leader boards and harder difficulties, but that wasn't required for the 100% Achievements.
