fun game. weird art and story, a bit cringy but whatever. i can overlook it for how much fun it is. The different adhistanas can be carved out a bit more so they're a little more unique rather than so many having the same triggers like hit self, hit enemies, hit walls, etc.

Needs translation. Good game but no idea what the perks actually do.

+Player choice +Pinball physics seem to work neatly; although there are certain skills that do not follow the physics (but for a good reason) -Translations / are wonky -Pointless "story" / characters with constant activity icons on them - even after chatting (and they repeat their stuff) -Technical issues - the game UX/UI draw a crafting window that I had previously used without any issues, as if it had taken an elevator out of the screen on the bottom -> freezing the game -Mouse is not locked to the full screen (and cursor is not seen) -> easy to click out of it = Neutral review, but I'd say for the price the game is worth it.

It is and interesting game with both rougue-like and pinball elements. At first I found the different balls and powers confusing as it seems to do things differently than many games. Once you have unlocked a good number of upgrades it definitely has its moments and the snyergies can be rewarding. It does take a fair bit of repeating levels towards the latter game so you can upgrade and progress. There is an endless mode that is good to try out new builds although this does not help with upgrades in the story mode. Anyway if any of this sounds interesting I can recommend getting on sale, no regrets.

Pinball Storm: Lokanta is an inventive and energetic indie game developed and published by Aastral Dynamics that merges pinball physics with roguelike progression and arcade-style action. It’s an unusual combination that instantly sets it apart, blending the tactile satisfaction of bouncing projectiles with the upgrade loops of a modern survival roguelite. The game is set in the dystopian city of Lokanta, a futuristic sprawl consumed by greed and rebellion, where players fight back against an oppressive system by wielding magical marbles that ricochet across chaotic battlefields. It’s an idea that sounds bizarre on paper but works surprisingly well in practice, delivering something that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly new. The gameplay revolves around the simple but compelling act of launching marbles into crowded arenas filled with enemies, hazards, and destructible objects. These marbles bounce endlessly off walls and foes, chaining hits together in ways reminiscent of both classic pinball and brick-breaker games. Each successful ricochet builds energy and combos, and as you progress, you unlock new types of marbles with unique effects—explosive, regenerative, elemental, or status-based. These upgrades introduce layers of strategy to what might initially seem like mindless chaos. Positioning becomes crucial, as the angle and timing of each shot can dramatically change the outcome of a fight. The physics system encourages improvisation, rewarding players who can manipulate rebounds and environmental features to maximize damage. At its core, Pinball Storm: Lokanta is structured as a roguelike. Each run takes place across a sequence of arenas guarded by waves of enemies and powerful bosses known as wardens. Defeating them earns currency and upgrade points, which can be spent on enhancing your marbles or unlocking new abilities. Between runs, permanent upgrades and new loadouts become available, creating a steady sense of progression even after failure. This roguelike loop gives the game excellent replayability—the short, intense sessions make it easy to jump in for “just one more round.” The randomization of upgrades ensures that no two runs feel quite the same, even if the arenas themselves can start to feel familiar after a while. The visual presentation is striking and eclectic. The environments combine futuristic dystopia with neon pinball-table energy, giving each arena a stylized sense of chaos. Brightly colored lights, explosions, and particle effects fill the screen during battles, capturing the sensory overload of arcade machines. The character and world design lean toward the abstract, using bold shapes and surreal imagery to build a world that feels unique but slightly alien. The soundtrack matches this frenetic tone perfectly, layering electronic beats and rhythmic percussion that drive the pace forward. It’s a sensory feast that manages to maintain clarity despite the on-screen mayhem. While the core mechanics are engaging, the game does suffer from a few growing pains. The translation and interface feel rough in places, occasionally obscuring what certain upgrades or systems actually do. Some UI elements crowd the screen, making it difficult to track enemy positions amid the flurry of effects. The balance can also feel uneven—some marbles and upgrades vastly outperform others, and once you stumble upon a particularly effective combination, it’s tempting to rely on it every run. This can make parts of the game feel repetitive, as the variety of viable strategies narrows the more you experiment. That said, the fundamental gameplay loop remains addictive enough to compensate for these issues, especially once you start chaining massive combos or clearing arenas with a single well-placed shot. Performance-wise, Pinball Storm: Lokanta runs smoothly and is well-optimized for both PC and handheld systems. The physics calculations are consistent and responsive, which is vital for a game built around ricochet mechanics. The game’s modest system requirements make it accessible to a wide range of players, and it performs particularly well on the Steam Deck. The overall polish is typical of a passionate indie production—there are some rough edges, but nothing that detracts from the core enjoyment. Given the scope of its ambition and the small size of its development team, it’s an impressive technical achievement. What makes Pinball Storm: Lokanta stand out most is its willingness to experiment. It takes familiar components from pinball, roguelikes, and arcade shooters and fuses them into something that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking. It doesn’t always hit every mark, but its creativity and sense of momentum keep it engaging. Each run is a kinetic dance of chaos and control, a balancing act between precision and randomness. The progression system and upgrade variety give it staying power, while its vibrant visual identity ensures it’s never dull to look at. In the end, Pinball Storm: Lokanta is one of those indie titles that reminds you why experimental design matters. It’s messy, bold, and bursting with energy—a game that doesn’t play it safe but instead embraces unpredictability as part of its identity. For players who love the immediacy of arcade gameplay mixed with the long-term rewards of roguelike progression, it offers hours of addictive, high-speed fun. It’s not perfect—translation hiccups and balance issues may frustrate at times—but its core loop is so inventive and satisfying that these flaws become minor distractions. Aastral Dynamics has created a fascinating hybrid that feels both familiar and completely new, and for fans of creative indie action games, Pinball Storm: Lokanta is well worth a spin. Rating: 7/10
