April 2025
I actually really enjoy Beasts of Bermuda a lot more than one other game I can compare it to which is Path of Titans. The following is my take on the game in comparison to Path of Titans. - Beasts of Bermuda doesn't have a map in place to show where you are, which can be good because it forces the player to explore, create their own landmarks and layout of the land. However, it does have a compass. - Unlike Path of Titans, you are not forced to do tasks in order to grow your dino (such as picking up acorns or pinecones). Instead, the game wants you to focus on the core value of survival like food and water sources while exploring. During exploring, over time your dino auto grows and inherits traits, even if you stay in one place. Just be mindful of your surroundings and your stats (food and water) as they decrease. - The game has natural disasters. When I first spawned into the game, i was greeted with seeing a tornado in the distance and another somewhere off in another direction. Your dino will 'stress' under these natural disaster conditions and seek to find shelter. Otherwise, they will lose health and eventually die. Other natural disasters that can occur are fires and floods, not sure if there might be others. You can make your dino less stressed about these occurrences if you put points into the trait for it. - The community on the official servers have been very helpful and friendly. They seem to welcome new players to the game and often answer any questions I may have about how aspects in the game work. I found there is lack of toxicity which is refreshing. - The game thankfully has an anti-cheat software upon booting up the game. This is tremendously a positive as my experience in Path of Titans is that it is FULL of hackers. How well this program works is beyond me but I have not come across anything of a 'WTF' moment yet. - The official servers have a strict rule policy that upon reading it, I have a feeling a lot of it is to make sure their game does not become anything toxic like The Isle or Path of Titans. I remember reading it and thinking 'oh thank god, this game is not like Path of Titans and its player base!' - Players kill other players to eat, not just to PVP for the sake of killing just to kill or troll. (Though I'm sure it occasionally happens) For the few times I have died by an actual player, I found that my corpse was being eaten by them. I actually have died most often by the NPC dolphins while fishing for food in the ocean compared to an actual player. - Often times while playing, I find i am using the 'scent' button/option to find food, water and sometimes the path of other dinos. This also becomes useful for events when attempting to find trinkets and the respective shrines to bring them to. - The game will crash without notice. Often when the game crashes, I found it has been when the official server is doing a refresh/restart. Unlike the game Path of Titans which will send out a notification count down of when this restart will occur, this game does not at this time. It does say that restart will occur at (Time) EST upon logging into the game. So, I guess you have to be mindful of the current time and the time difference while playing. - While maining a flying dino, I found that the map seems to be pretty huge in my opinion. Between swamps, oceans, deserts, forests and mountains, there is a lot to cover. As a land dino, covering over the area might take more time to get through. - Upon death, you have the option to resurrect which will toss you back a growth stage or start over completely as a hatchling. This will lower the amount of traits you had prior to death but you'll find you'll regain that back fairly quickly (in my opinion). - Unique dino creation is limited. The most unique visual thing about your dino will be the color scheme you choose to have for your skin. You cannot add on spikes, feathers, plates, etc. - Babies are possible in the game and are actual players. Choosing to be a newborn baby dino, you can pick the couple who you want to be your parents and if they have an egg available. When you load into the game, you see yourself growing within the egg before you hatch. Traits from parents are genetically shared as are the colors your dino hatches as (you don't get to change/decide that, it's random based on the parents). Automatically the map/game picks up where your parents are if online and not at the nest. As an adult, you can breed with those related to you (mom, dad, sibling, etc.) but that will create babies with 'issues' for inbreeding (like frequently sick). So its strongly suggested, find a dino not related to your herd. Overall, my intake on the game, I actually really enjoy it. I especially love the weather aspect and the community. The trait system is pretty neat. It doesnt seem overly complicated, tutorial is kinda limited upon start up. A lot of it might require you to read in the tutorial section when you might have your dino relaxing in a safe spot. Most of it you will figure out as you play. Controls such as different roars and abilities could take some getting used to. Highly suggest this game if you are tired of toxic players, hackers and useless missions you have to complete just to get your dino to grow to an adult. ** Please do keep in mind that there is community servers and in community servers, toxic players can be or do exist. Those servers you join at your own risk.**

IMO the one who deserves the most out of the big three, was very skeptical but it feels the most finished. Path of Titans is just way too empty for the stuff it gives, the combat is also not the best but it balances between realistic and arcadey and it is fun in it's own way. The Isle is the most realistic one with the best animations etc. but the devs on it are just way too lazy man, if the devs would put their heart a little bit more in their game, the isle would make it to #1 BoB is so much more fun, the map feels more alive, it feels perfect size-wise, the water + flight dinos are really good integrated, the weather system is so much more fun and immersive. It sure is more in the arcade direction but the mechanics are really good and u shouldn't miss out on.

This game used to suck, but its gotten way better, and is actually playable for the casual enjoyer now! I would recommend it to most players at this point in its development. Pros: The most complex and fun mechanics of the Big 3 dinosaur games, from weather that can actually kill you, to special unique abilities to learn on each playable, a talent and inherit system, in game earnable emotes and skins, and actual goals outside of PvP. Theres so much to learn and do for a new player. The most complex skin system of any survival animal game as of this review, you can spend hundreds of hours nesting and grinding just getting cool skins if thats your cup of tea. Easy to travel and good looking main map, with motivations to travel instead of migrating to one big hotspot and multiple unique biomes to explore The only playable snake in a survival game, and the nicest snake playable ever made as of this review, along with many other very well made creatures that have bulk to them instead of looking like skin draped over bones. A very friendly and patient development team with fantastic staff/mods who really do care about their game. Really fun combat, in my humble opinion, but also a game where you can just avoid most combat if you wish by knowing where AI spawns are and how to avoid people. Cons: Due to infinite growth and lax official server rules on mixpacking/self feeding, there will always be power creep issues between clans/no lifers (me) and the casual player. There is alot of toxicity from these kinds of players, and many clans are also known for hacking. (They do get banned for these behaviors, but they just come back on new accounts.) This is to me the biggest issue in the game currently. There are bugs. Some of the bugs are really bad, like getting stuck in trees or teleporting under the map and dying instantly. On most servers if you are recording you can get revived for this but it is a problem and has been for awhile. You have to be recording. If you die to a bug or rulebreaker and are not recording it you will loose your playable. Peeves that dont reallllyyy affect gameplay: Biomes are limited to tropical on the main map, which is a big bummer imo in a game where realisim isn't the focus. On a related note, this isn't a realisim game. You can have neon pink glowing dinosaurs. This may be a turn off to some players. There are balance issues, outside of infinite growth balance issues. Some playables are simply not good (Coahceratops/Oryctodromeus ), others have obvious developer favoritism (Megaraptor). Most items in game are storebought assets, which often do not match eachother and look very repetitive (trees). Some skins are not earnable or even purchasable, and only owned by a few or even just one person, which sucks. Luckily most these people share these skins around via nesting. But some just do not.

A fun survival game. Official servers are always occupied, and devs take community feedback in an effort to keep the game balanced. Mixpacking is not allowed, and hacking and other rulebreaks are consistently banned for. Combat is fun. Like it or hate it, any beast on the roster can kill any other in a 1v1 if they have the skill and know-how. Gameplay loop can be a touch repetitive, but growing is not agonizing or terribly frustrating unless you're a solo on a slow species. Public grouping helps eliminate issues with solo play, but solo players are enormously disadvantaged. Breeding is encouraged with higher stats, cool mutations including bioluminescense but also IRL mutations like piebaldism, incest deformities, melanism, and so on. Very good skin system that allows you to cross traits from different skins. Herbivores are not at a disadvantage compared to carnis. Different beasts fulfill different playstyles, and customizable traits make even very niche and personal playstyles very viable. Solo play, duos, or large herds all are viable. Glass cannon, tank, ambush, outhealing, venom, bleeding are only some of the many playstyles available. Devs care, and are pleasant. Game is actively being worked on and updated regularly. Happy to support a small dev team like this. Many examples of them listening to community feedback.
