The Blackwell Legacy introduced us to Rosa, and Unbound gave us some backstory on her aunt Lauren. In Convergence, things really start to pick up as the plot thickens! This one’s another short but sweet 2-3 hour chapter, giving us more insight into the Blackwell family and their whole "spook-hunting" gig. The graphics feel a bit more polished this time around, and the "double-click notes to connect stuff together" mechanic from the last game is gone, which honestly is a good change. The gameplay is pretty much the same as before, and the game ends on a bit of a cliffhanger... so I guess I’m booting up the next game right away...

Honestly, this series is getting better with each game. They're getting longer, production is better, and there are more mechanics that make the game more fun. I did have a few spots where I couldn't figure out how to trigger the next steps, but adding the computer search made it so much more fun! I love Joey and Rosa!

This builds on the mechanics from Unbound and makes them useful, while letting go of another that felt impactful in the two earlier titles. It somehow still feels like mystery solving but much more passive, with many things happening and us pushing the story along with our findings and actions, rather than the other way around. But that's partially the genre I guess, I prefer some action and movement rather than just scouring a dead wasteland, however beautiful it might be. The art also stepped up. It's higher resolution like the previous game, but now the scenes are much more detailed, filling that space with things to interpreted rather than being too simple. The story has that feel of mystery again from the first game combined with a bit of slice of life with Rosa having shed her cynical demeanour and fully accepting the roles she's in. I would have liked some more character development from everyone, though. The character just about stayed the same, and it would have been nice to have seen some of the cynicism being left over from earlier, signifying a transition rather than a complete change. I'm sure there will be a big reveal about Joey at some point, but besides him being a dick showing trough sometimes ... maybe that's a repeated hint. Still, I didn't talk to him much because he just was there for hints, which was a shame. There should have been some sections where talking to him was required or encouraged. Definitely on the level of the first one, Legacy, and it also continues to reveal things of the overarching lore and introduces many concepts that make one thing what could be behind this world.

Damn, I LOVE this game series! The first one was already quite good, the second one had me confused about the lore (only because somehow I didn't realize it was "Lauren", not "Rosangela" the whole time. I'm just this stupid.) - but in this third one it's all coming together and it's brilliant! I love the characters, the portraits and voice acting, the setting and wonderful nostalgic gameplay (point and click adventures were my gamer starting point in the 80s/90s), the soundtrack is good too. I just can't think of anything to complain about and can't wait to start the fourth one of the series (after getting 100% in this one, I missed a few achievements). Give it a try! But I recommend to play it chronologically: start with "The Blackwell Legacy"!

Recommended for: If you enjoyed the previous two Blackwell games then you’ll probably like this one. It's roughly the same quality as Unbound, maybe slightly better. It’s the familiar point'n click adventure game, featuring a compelling supernatural story and intriguing characters. The game is still fairly short like the previous games. It takes only a couple of hours to finish. My experience: I liked playing The Blackwell Convergence. It's nice to see the series improve with each title. I did find the voice acting in this game a bit of a mixed bag, except for the two main characters, they’re still top-tier in my opinion. Technical: I had no technical issues while playing. (Win10,7800X3D,RX7800XT) Personal Rating: 3/5
