One of the best non-FromSoft Souls-likes. Huge map, tons of gear and great atmosphere, very underrated.

This is my first review ever. After playing Bleak Faith: Forsaken for at least 93 hours and unlocking all the achievements, I can confidently recommend this game ONLY if you enjoy the following: - Immersive atmosphere (strongly inspired by Blame) - Variety in character builds - Challenging gameplay (at least on your first playthrough) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ However, there are some weak points in my opinion: - The enemy AI is not the best (most enemies share the same attack patterns) - Once you obtain a stronger weapon, the game's challenge decreases significantly (it is also easy to create an overpowered build) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The music is subjective; for me, it helps create a great atmosphere, but I am sure that for some people, hearing the same music loop in almost every scenario may become tedious. If you are a Dark Souls veteran, this game could feel very easy, but if you are not, it may prove to be a difficult challenge. The vast environments and ambiguous NPC dialogues could also make progression stressful. Believe it or not, Bleak Faith: Forsaken (before its console release) was one of my reasons for building a gaming PC. Considering the game was developed by just three people, I am satisfied with the final product. I am looking forward to a DLC, hopefully!

2023 Bleak Faith was too rough for me to finish. a much improved hardware set up for me, and many massive overhauling updates from the devs have brought this game into a fully recommended experience. art design and world building and maze-like maps are the shining stars. the scope is staggering at times, and the heights dizzying in a literal sense. i felt like i was dropped into the world of Armored Core but as a tiny single human like being. weapon types are varied, i love how they condensed stats for builds, and the generous upgrading materials offered to those that explore the insane amount of massive side paths make for plenty of available variety. the state it was released in and what it is now is akin to Cyberpunk 2077, no man's sky, ff14, etc. if you havent played it in a few years, or have never played it, i HIGHLY recommend. combat has become chunky and responsive. it's not as highly polished as the main line souls series, but who's asking for that from 3 guys? its still one of the best in the indie/AA sphere, and one of the best souslikes i've played. loved every minute of it. is this typed randomly and out of order? overly long? somehow didnt frustrate you, and you got sucked in for longer than you intended? Bleak Faith: Forsaken is your new addiction 8.5/10

Bleak Faith is a hard game to recommend. It's not a great game. Combat is stiff. Story makes no sense. Enemies are pretty simple. Voice acting is meh. Not great but serviceable. So why am I recommending it? The world is pretty great. It's massive with a lot of little corridors and stairs all over the place and you can run around for an hour and get lost in the world. Megastructures is a concept that has been popping up more and more in indie games for the last few years and I love the concept of it. Hope to see more of this type of idea in the future.

I know the game had a bad start, but in its current state, i encountered no bugs or anything. The world is amazing and vast, beautiful sombre atmosphere and even the combat feels very good, when you get used to it. It took me about 35hrs to finish first run and i had a great fun. So far the best soulslike game that is not developed by Fromsoft, in my opinion, looking forward to DLC.
