The only sapphic rpg about an extradimensional school where you can construct extra desks for more places to study even when no teachers are around.

The second game is a much better…game. It's much more polished, with a better budget for everything: the script, the dates (so many dates!), the dungeons, the crafting system, etc. Now, the focus is still on dating the girls to get to know them better. Now you have exactly three options to select per date that would affect what fragment you'll get by the end, and as a bonus you get to see different reactions and sometimes cutscenes. By my count you can get as many as 141 dates per playthrough. That's not counting optional date events you can trigger while on the date, and group events. And, for what it's worth, there's some actual romance this time, and it's not just between the main heroine and other girls. Also, there's a handholding system implemented when you progress your bonding far enough! Item crafting is now required to progress some story events, and to unlock some optional areas in the dungeons. Plus, you get a separate school structure crafting to add to the school grounds (which work as additional dating spots). You also get more party members to build your team, plus an additional support slot for passive effects during battles. The combat system is also seriously expanded, with more skills, a gear system to unlock skill tiers, team combos, transformations, and additional one-on-one boss battle system. The music is mostly reused and slightly rearranged tracks from the first game (which is not a bad thing). One slight dig I have, is the outfit DLCs. There's not even one with casual wear this time around, which is a shame. All you can get is alternative colors for default outfits, and a bunch of fan service. The ending is also a bit disappointing, in that it's just a boss rush where you have to re-visit every dungeon and re-fight the dungeon boss. And then do it again in the end game dungeon. It feels like an unnecessary padding just to prolong the last chapter for a few hours. The ending is also kinda meh, and the NG+ changes for True End are so minor, it's not worth it to run again (but you probably will, if you care for 100% completion, because there's a bunch of bugged achievements, and you can only get half the fragments from dates in one playthrough). All in all, it's a very chill and enjoyable experience if you like the genre of cute girls doing cute things. And you absolutely do not need to play the first game, nor do you need to watch the anime before starting this game!

This is such a cozy, pretty and sweet game about friendship. I loved the surreal level designs of the Heartscapes (Rena and Hinako’s were my favorites). The characters are all likable, including the MC, Ao. The story also really picks up towards the end. My only gripes are a) it is very easy to max out your characters to the point that it becomes frustratingly easy and b) that you need to do an entire second playthrough with not many changes for the true ending. If you’re into the Atelier games, I think this is a good choice for you!

Playing this game is like having your favourite anime be given a second season, have it be given super high budget, given to a better studio, better action scenes, more VA hired, and with a surprise twist in the story that elevated it above the first season in every way.
