Braveland Wizard is a turn-based strategy RPG developed and published by Tortuga Team that embraces a deliberately classic approach to tactical gameplay while wrapping it in a lighthearted, storybook-style fantasy presentation. As the second entry in the Braveland trilogy, the game shifts focus away from the sword-and-shield hero of the original title and instead places players in the role of a newly graduated wizard, setting out from the Academy of Magic into a world filled with familiar fantasy dangers and playful surprises. This change in perspective subtly reshapes the experience, placing a greater emphasis on spellcasting, unit synergy, and strategic positioning, while still retaining the accessible tone that defines the series. At its core, Braveland Wizard revolves around grid-based, turn-based battles where careful planning matters far more than quick reflexes. Encounters unfold on hexagonal maps, and each unit’s placement, abilities, and timing can dramatically influence the outcome. The wizard protagonist serves as the tactical centerpiece, supporting a growing roster of allies that includes monks, archers, elemental fighters, and other fantasy archetypes. Progression is tied to a talent system that allows players to specialize in different schools of magic, offering meaningful choices in how the wizard develops over time. While the mechanics themselves are easy to grasp, the game gradually encourages more thoughtful play as enemy formations become more complex and battles require smarter use of spells and positioning. The structure of the game is intentionally straightforward. Players move across a linear overworld map, progressing from battle to battle with occasional side encounters and dungeons along the way. These optional areas offer additional gold, experience, and equipment, making them valuable for strengthening your party, though they can sometimes feel repetitive due to the limited variety of encounter types. Still, the steady rhythm of exploration, combat, and progression gives the game a comfortable pacing, making it easy to play in short sessions without losing track of goals or mechanics. There’s a sense that Braveland Wizard is designed to be enjoyed casually, without demanding constant optimization or exhaustive planning. Visually, the game’s hand-drawn art style is one of its most appealing qualities. Characters, enemies, and environments are illustrated with a charming simplicity that evokes classic fairy tales and tabletop fantasy art. The world feels inviting rather than threatening, even when facing undead foes or monstrous enemies, which reinforces the game’s approachable tone. Animations are clean and readable, prioritizing clarity over spectacle, and this design choice helps keep combat easy to follow. The accompanying music is similarly understated, providing gentle, atmospheric tracks that support the fantasy setting without overpowering the gameplay or becoming distracting during longer play sessions. Narratively, Braveland Wizard keeps things light and uncomplicated. The story serves primarily as a framework for the tactical battles, filled with playful dialogue and familiar fantasy tropes rather than deep character arcs or dramatic twists. While the plot itself may not be particularly memorable, the writing adds personality to encounters and helps the world feel cohesive. This understated narrative approach fits the game’s overall philosophy, focusing on charm and enjoyment rather than epic storytelling. It’s the kind of game where the journey matters more than the destination, and where individual battles often leave a stronger impression than the overarching plot. In terms of difficulty and balance, the game leans firmly toward accessibility. Most encounters can be overcome without excessive trial and error, and fallen units are typically revived after battles, reducing the sting of mistakes. This forgiving design makes Braveland Wizard welcoming to players new to turn-based strategy, but it may feel too gentle for veterans seeking a more punishing or deeply complex tactical experience. Even so, there is satisfaction to be found in mastering unit combinations and efficiently clearing tougher encounters, particularly later in the campaign when enemy abilities demand more careful planning. Ultimately, Braveland Wizard succeeds by knowing its audience and playing to its strengths. It doesn’t attempt to reinvent the turn-based strategy genre or overwhelm players with systems upon systems. Instead, it delivers a polished, charming, and thoughtfully designed experience that blends tactical combat with a relaxed pace and appealing visuals. For players who enjoy classic strategy RPGs but prefer a lighter, more approachable take on the genre, Braveland Wizard offers a warm and enjoyable adventure that feels both nostalgic and comfortably modern in its design philosophy. It's more braveland, but not much more. Takes about 2 hours if you use cheat engine to speed up the animation speed. Walking around is SUPER slow otherwise. Don't pay more than a dollar for it on sale.

played offline i guess is why i only have a few minutes olaytime but anyway beat on XBOX and now steam because i like the games enough to purchase twice lol, but anyway, great game, would be nice to grind w o having to die on purpose lol but all in all grat fun tho kinda short for price has more rpg options in upgrading than Braveland which is nice. ONE HUGE THING that is really terrible though is the difficulty on HARD, there is hard then there is unreallisticly hard, the only way to grind is to defeat most of the enemies and then let your characters die which can also take forever and the xp earnings can be really trash, the original Braveland and even Braveland Pirate are both much more balanced

6/10 It's getting boring pretty fast and you have to beat the game at least twice in order to get all of the achievements.
