Finally got around to 100%ing this game and I am satisfied that I did, it's a rougelike but with very NESy game design. (in a good way though) the only bug I encountered was on my first attempt at getting the 50K points achievement, where the game bugged out and did not spawn the grail needed to beat the game. However I did later clear it on my 2nd try. very good for those who want a smaller more bite sized game while not sacrificing quality. very much worth the buck spent.

Epic game, Simple and doesn't take long to beat. Firstly you choose a class either a knight/warrior or a mage. How the gameplay works is you go into a level and there are enemy's and gold on the floor and sometimes weapons and you go to go to the stairs on the opposite side of the level, then once you do that you have more levels which is different to the last. Then after a couple of levels you find a shop which sells items which you can buy with the gold you have found on the floor also you can buy weapons, but I would try to spend most of your money on health. Then straight after the shop level there is a boss the boss is in a random order, you might get the snake boss which follows you around and is quite easy to beat. During each boss battle weapons or magic powers will be on the floor depending on what class you choose. After two boss fights your map will change into a forest map before it was a dungeon. Also everytime you die you have to start from the start of the game. Some of the bosses might be a challenge though like the bats, There will be 2 red bats which take 2 hits to kill and I think 4 black bats witch take 1 hit to kill. This boss might not sound challenging but its really easy to get cornered and then get killed. One thing I haven't metioned about this game is the soundtrack I quite liked the soundtrack to this very retro and classic to suit the game that its in. Another boss I haven't metioned is the two eyeballs which are quite easy to defeat but the reason I am bringing them up is there similaity to Terrraria, they are very similar to the twins boss and there artstyle so if you enjoyed terraria artstyle you might enjoy Broken Armor art style. One thing I haven't talked about yet is the combat the way you deal damage in this game is by throwing weapons which you find on the floor and if you are a mage you have some spells or powers. You take damage by either walking into an enemy or an enemy's projectiles like I metioned early when you die you are taken back to the start of the game. You can heal yourself either by finding hearts on the floor or buying hearts from a shopkeeper, or using a healing spell as a mage. After a while you will find the final boss of the game Black knight he is a massive enemy who tries you walk into you and throws things at you, But if you manage to defeat him you will defeated your final foe kind of. Lastly you have one finally level which is basically all the previous levels combined and is a lot longer nothing new all previous enemy's. But once you have done this you will find a room, which in the centre of this room leads up to... The holy grail... A giant golden cup. Then if you want to you can new game plus and play the game again to increase your score but if you die you go straight back to the start.

"A Hidden Gem for Retro Platformer Fans!" Broken Armor is a small but mighty game that feels like a love letter to the challenging platformers of the past. While it might not be on everyone’s radar in 2024, it’s proof that minimalist design and tight gameplay can still deliver a ton of fun for those willing to give it a shot. Gameplay: You play as a fragile knight whose armor breaks right at the start, leaving you vulnerable to every threat. The game’s charm lies in its simplicity—jump, dodge, and survive. The controls are tight, and the levels are designed to test your precision and patience. Each stage is packed with hazards, and the satisfaction of clearing a tough section is unmatched. It’s tough, but it never feels unfair. Graphics and Sound: The pixel-art visuals are simple yet effective, giving off a classic retro vibe. The music and sound effects fit perfectly, immersing you in the game’s nostalgic feel. It’s not about flashy graphics—it’s about creating a focused and engaging experience. Pros: Tight and responsive controls. Challenging but rewarding gameplay. Retro aesthetic that captures the essence of old-school platformers. Perfect for quick play sessions. Cons: The difficulty might deter casual players. Very short; could leave you wanting more. Conclusion: Broken Armor isn’t trying to compete with modern AAA titles—it’s a game for players who appreciate the simplicity and challenge of classic platformers. While most gamers today might overlook it, those who enjoy tough, retro-style games will find it a hidden gem. It’s a short but satisfying journey that reminded me why I love indie games in the first place.

Ignoring the money making bug, this game is incredible. Very addicting and difficult. Found myself sitting down for 3 hours playing this game.

Between the coupon and the cards, I made money on this game, and got all the achievements at just under 90 minutes (the hardest one being dying 25 times). Ultimately reminds me of something you'd find on Kongregate back in the day; a light little flash-style game.
