Bus Sim 18 is a game where you expand your bus empire to slowly cover the whole map. You are given a lot of missions that you can spend a lot of time on. I've had a lot of fun on the game and recently completed it. There is a good choice of busses to choose from and they are detailed very well. The positives: Good choice of busses. Great map design, all the places seem to have life. Great detail on both the map and busses Plenty of time to be spent playing the game There are lots of mods to choose from. This ranges from buses, maps, decals etc... The negatives: I've had issues with the game crashing randomly. Frame drops sometimes happen when going into different districts. Achievement hunting in this game was a nightmare because getting some of the collectibles didn't trigger it's respective achievement. The AI traffic is quite poor, the cars can be at a junction waiting for ages even if it's clear sometimes causing huge traffic jams at junctions.
I so wanted to like this as I'm a big sim fan, and I wanted to try this (in the sale) before I got the latest version (Bus Sim 27) when it drops. Sadly, no matter what I try, the game crashed after a few minutes of play. I did manage an hour or so, then it froze. Then, it crashed on the load screen every time after that, and I never got past loading my company. I have a brand new gaming rig, so my PC is not the problem. I also have fully updated drivers. I tried lowering Mirror resolution, AI traffic volume, running as admin, running with DX12 etc, etc, etc. I really did try and I do wanted to love this title, but alas. I won't refund the game as I got it in the sale, and don't think it fair to. Nor will I give a thumb down on it, as it really does look good on the You Tube videos I've seem. I just wish I'd been able to join the fun. It's also kind of put me off buying the newer versions. Such a shame.
I have spent 88 hours listening to people complain. "Can you turn up the AC?" "Someone forgot their purse!" "You're driving too fast!" I came to this game to relax, but instead, I accidentally adopted 40 ungrateful virtual children who refuse to sit down while I take a sharp turn at 60 km/h. Highly therapeutic. 10/10.
