When first looking at the underwhelming reception from the first Capcom Arcade Stadium both on Steam and Backloggd, i was like "well, of course. this collection is so lacking in features, how did they think this was good enough for the general public?" only to then find out the backlash was 90% due to a concerning amount of window lickers whining at the concept of exchanging money for food and services, who somehow thought the whole shebang was gonna be free. Either way, structurally Stadium 2 is exactly the same as the first one, and you can read all of my gripes with that one in its dedicated page. Haven't played the games in here yet, but from the looks of it they seem a lot better than the prequel's at least.

I have to admit, I don't quite get why they didn't just make this more DLC for the first Capcom Arcade Stadium - with the main title free and then a lot of other games as paid DLC, it doesn't really make sense to me. Anyway, it's the same as the first collection, just with a different collection of games; once again, it's nice to have a collection of a lot of great (and some not-so-great) arcade collections, but it is done in the most cash grabby way possible. There are some great beat-em-up and fighting games in here, but I think the best shoot-em-ups were in the first collection. Controls are good, difficulty levels, speed, rewind, save state all work great. The various challenges to try and beat are pretty good. I would say it passes the "just as good as emulation" test I would normally apply to these, but they run pretty inefficiently. Fortuntately, even on a potato of a computer, it's not the end of the world to emulate an arcade game inefficiently. Also, you can disable the arcade console-view that comes default and play them on a black background. At first I thought you couldn't, and that would make the tone of this review very different! The "cash grab" accusation comes from the paid DLC for everything - buying the games individually adds up cost, but at least this time the invincibility cheat is free DLC instead of a dollar!

great nostalgia. only issue is it resets the cabinet every time you leave it. be like the Arcade proprietor resetting the machine after each use. major points off for that. seriously breaks the immersion

I like this game because, while it has a lot of Street Fighter like the first collection, it covers a broader spectrum, including the original game, SF3, the Alpha series, Darkstalkers, some BMUPs and SHMUPs, a paddle game (gasp!), and some goofy puzzle games too! All-around, I'd say this is the better of the two collections, just for the diversity of content. A great value.
