Out of every CarX that has released this still continues to be the best. There are tons of vehicle modifications in the base game and if you mod the game with Kino the options are almost endless. I have over 1200 hours on PS5 and when i switched to PC with mods it is like it became an entirely different game. This game should be the standard with any racing game when it comes to vehicle modification.
If you're looking for a chill, arcade-style racing game, keep scrolling. This is not that. CarX Drift Racing Online is a full-blown addiction, a physics simulator designed to make you feel like a terrible driver for approximately 10 hours before you finally nail that first big corner. It doesn't hold your hand; it slaps your hand away when you try to tap the brakes. The core appeal here is the physics engine, which is responsive, demanding, and incredibly rewarding once you figure out the dark magic of balancing throttle, steering, and clutch kick to maintain a perfect slide. It’s what keeps you coming back for that one perfect tandem run. The sheer amount of car customization is phenomenal, both visually and mechanically. You can spend more time in the garage fiddling with suspension stiffness, toe angle, and final drive ratios than you do on the track. If you’re a gearhead, the tuning alone is worth the price of entry. Of course, this means you can also completely ruin your car and turn it into an uncontrollable shopping cart, which is part of the fun. The liveries and body kits let you make your virtual ride look exactly like your imaginary drift missile, which is great because there is absolutely no way I could afford to actually damage a real car this much. Multiplayer is where the magic happens. You’re not just racing; you’re joining lobbies with total strangers on massive open tracks, gracefully, or not-so-gracefully, trying to slide in tandem without slamming into each other. The community is surprisingly welcoming, focusing more on style and flow than winning an arbitrary race. It’s a beautifully frustrating game that perfectly captures the aesthetic and challenge of competitive drifting. Just make sure you have a controller or wheel; keyboard drifting is an act of pure, unnecessary masochism.
After spending over 1000 hours in CarX Drift Racing Online, I can say this game has definitely earned its spot on my favorites list. The physics are solid — around 8/10 in my opinion — and once you get used to the tuning system, it’s super satisfying. I just wish there were easier explanations for what each tuning setting actually does, so newcomers wouldn’t have to learn everything through trial and error (or YouTube at 3 AM). I mostly play on a wheel, and let me tell you — when you nail that perfect drift angle, it feels amazing… but when it snaps back the wrong way, it’s a full workout for the arms 😅. My wheel’s been through more pain than my tires at this point. The community is kind of “meh” — sometimes really good, sometimes not so much. I haven’t fully gotten into the whole community side since I’m not sure how to, but the online lobbies can be a wild mix of chill players and chaos. One thing I really miss is a proper in-game competitive platform. Most of the events are hosted by separate groups or “soul” communities, but there’s no official leaderboard or ranked system. If the devs added that, it’d give players something to truly compete for. Overall, it’s an awesome drift sim with a ton of potential — just needs better onboarding, proper competition, and maybe a “wheel user support group” for when force feedback sends you flying. 😅
