Update: I have a sneaking feeling that they ready my review and then updated the game to fix my few complaints. The latest update has dramatically improved the game with more buildings, shops, mercenary camps, etc. You can hire max level mercenaries from merc camps, and now there is a mount that makes leveling a certain character easier. I am very impressed and pleased with the most recent changes and I am very excited to see what else they come up with. Original Review: Overall, I think its an improvement over Circle Empires Rivals. The new art style is more distinct in my opinion. Although both Rivals and CE II are great. I love that you can create your own units and mix and match. The customization of units is definitely the best part of this game and it is a great addition. The heroes/factions also offer even more unique playstyles than a lot of the Rivals heroes. And the AI seems more intelligent. However, my only real complaints are: 1: that building up an economy feels slower in CE II than CE Rivals. 2: There are less buildings you can place in your circle with less interesting effects. 3: Leveling up units is much much slower than CE Rivals and so I often never have level 2 or 3 units in my army at all, even if I am very careful to not lose any units. Still recommend it, but I am looking forward to seeing any updates that may happen in the future.
Honestly the game is cool i played the og one and rivals but to be honest it lacks units. it feels like it needs atleast 2 to 3 times the units it has. i can see why people are hating on it and honestly i respect the hate its just that while i apreciate and think its cool and fun and looks so much better it just feels so bad that it feels like there really is only a handful of units im not going to refund it because i have faith but mann was i close to give a thumbs down Edit 1. after playing a bit more this game is in dire need of more leaders and have an option to make you own leader and army composition like being able to choose what units and upgrades
Game is fun as always. I'm a little disappointed in the limited number of factions to pick from. I feel like there used to be way more. Also no steam cloud is crazy. If I had noticed that sooner I would have returned the game and waited until they put it in. It does seem to handle big armies much better then before. Edit: The steam cloud has been fixed.
Game's decent for the price! If you're not into RTS games or wish to play with friends who are more into casual games or not familiar with RTS games, this is a good entry point. There's enough complexity here for an RTS player to enjoy small amounts of time with, and the game is casual player friendly enough for those who aren't real RTS players. They will learn. I just hope the dev adds more game modes and provide extensive modding tools that will allow for new custom units, modes, and even perhaps custom biomes and maps. That will greatly improve and make this game's life cycle and sales last longer.
