Wall World but with top-down horde based survival waves between digs. Both aspects are pretty decent, though the digging could have more options and deeper progression to be made more interesting. The game is interesting and easy enough to get into. The first few runs felt doomed but the rogue-lite nature of the game has you unlocking things to help pretty quickly. The main story stuff which is required to unlock things is very unclear though. I have 40+ minute run after 40+ minute run with everything upgraded and still can't unlock half of the things because what you need to find to advance the story is visually hard to identify. I do think the game could be a lot better and more fleshed out, but it is fun to play regardless.

Fun game that will keep you entertained for an afternoon. Gameplay is similar to Dome Keeper and Wall World but a lot shorter and action packed. I 100% it in 3 hours, there's more meta upgrades I could grind for but I feel like I've seen everything the game has to offer in those 3 hours. For that reason I'd say wait for a discount, though the full price is not bad for what you get. Don't expect too much from the mining part of the game, almost every cave is nearly identical in size and layout, but some have a relic (always near the entrance), and a few have a puzzle that gives you a relic. There's not a whole lot of exploring nor is there a whole lot of depth to the upgrades. Ocean Keeper has more meta progression than Dome Keeper though, which I liked. Someone said in their review that this game is grindy... it's not. You earn meta upgrade points just from drilling blocks, so every run you'll earn meta points that can go to new permanent upgrades, and you'll earn more than enough of those if you just drill between waves. All in all if you're looking for a more action oriented twist on Dome Keeper, or just want to have fun for a couple hours while getting an easy 100% achievement, you won't be disappointed if you pick this up at 50% off.

It gets easier once upgrades are completed. Weapons seem unbalanced. Rocket Gun is much more powerful than Machine Gun or Shot Gun at the start. The game recommends upgrading relic slots from the beginning, though it is quite unlikely the player will last long enough to have more than 1 artifact without any other upgrades. Rocket Gun should be recommended instead. There isn't any minimap available in game, not as an upgrade either. It is hard to tell which cave has been explored and which hasn't, or where the player is. A forgetful person will find it hard to know which cave to explore next after a while. I keep heading back to caves which are already explored and wasted time finding new caves. There are these areas which seem to require some trial and error to solve / unlock something, which I haven't been able to figure out. The game doesn't seem to provide any clue either. With less than 2 minutes per area, and these areas showing up usually once every few caves, it looks like it's gonna take awhile more before I know how to solve these caves.

This game is AWESOME. If you combined 2d Minecraft with an isometric tower defense, you would get this. Ocean keeper. 11/10. Must buy now.

The mechanics of this game are simple: balance resource gathering and defense in continuous rounds until you get a relic. The genius of this game lies in how many different elements bring variety, not to mention the fantastic visual and sound design. So far you only have a choice among the main game, so we're waiting for the storyline. Upgrades in the hub allow you to unlock more and more items to introduce different play styles. I don't play games often, but when I find ones I like, I tend to obsess over them, and I'm obsessed with this one.
