I want to share my experience so far because with just 3.5 hours in at the time of writing this review, I can say that this game lives to its proposal of a survivor ARPG. There is a lot to unpack here, so bear with me. Your normal run start as follows: *You enter at the ritual site, and choose one of 3 characters, of 3 races so far: Humans is default and the other two you have to unlock. Each race as its advantages, and you get a small bonus. *This character also comes with a base class. The base part is important. *Then you pick your origin, like Hunter Apprentice or War Veteran. These origins provide you with access to other skills and weapons, you can choose a Human, Barbarian, Hunter apprentice, and you will have access to Hunter skills, but not the Hunter Masteries. *Your first enemy kill give you a weapon and first level up, your first Masteries. Unlike most survivors, each class has access to six Masteries, the number of choices you are going to make are smaller, but more impactful. *Next level up is your skill, If you pick an origin from outside your base class, you might get skills from that other class. You can have a Two-Handed Sword Barbarian with Ricochet shot if you like. *You'll get later on a passive damage skill and a move skill... and that it, your tool kit is limited, but actually strong. Your weapon and skills can be strengthened via runes that you get for killing elite monsters, each skill can have 1 Rune located, and can be upgraded via meta progression to have more rune slots. During runs, you will also loot gear, armor; you get extra bonuses if you get pieces of the same set, you also can improve your gear in the middle of the run. Furthermore, unlike most Survivors, where your character level easily goes over 80. At this point, I barely passed 14, and I fell stronger than any other game. They are selling this to you with “Experience an ARPG's rapid ascension to power in minutes” and as someone with almost 300 hours in Grimm Dawn, yeah, they nail the feeling in the best possible way! If you are fan ARPG and want to go from level 0 to 50 in less than 15 minutes, this game is for you. I know I'm enjoying myself right now, and hope they keep updating and this game as a proper release some day.

What the hell is it about one person productions these days that makes games so good? This is another one of those absolute gems made by one developer. It's by far one of the best roguelites I've touched to date. It'll give you ways to make the game loop the same, but various ways to tinker with your skills letting them hit differently. Shield Toss with multiple projectiles and projectile splitting? Absolute wave clear. Another thing I like about this game is that the degree of difficulty exists in early game and it punishes you if you start bleeding and you're suffering in the regen department. The gameplay feels smooth, it feels fun to repeat runs, faction unlocks are worth grinding. It's just a very good game that I strongly recommend fans of the genre pick up. Always back the one dev games, there's usually more heart and soul put into the project and in this game, it shows.

Great game, I spent 150 hours in the demo alone before it went EA so it's safe to say I've gotten my money's worth. If you start playing and it feels a bit basic don't worry, many (maybe too many?) mechanics are unlocked as you progress, such as equipment rarity, passive skill gem drops, set bonuses, and runes to improve specific abilities. There's a lot more to it than you'd think playing through the first couple of levels.

Works flawlessly on Deck. A unique and slightly more tactical take on the survivors genre. Has a lot in common with Halls of Torment, if you enjoyed that - you'll love this.
