March 2026
The main thing that Conquest Dark does differently than the rest of the genre is how it limits upgrade choices based on your character's proficiencies and equipment. This results in an elegant way to avoid the pitfall that many other survivors-like games fall into, where unlocking new equipment makes things feel worse because of how they'll dilute your future runs' upgrade pool. The total variety of upgrades isn't massive, but each class feels distinct, and each primary weapon's limitations in their skill choices means that the game has felt like choices matter more than most other games in the genre. Builds are easier to plan (and execute) due to the proficiency limitations, which means a high level of consistency- the only times where I've felt like a build didn't come together is because I hadn't yet unlocked a skill that I was looking for. The game runs well on Steam Deck. I haven't run into any performance issues. For negatives, the run time for higher difficulties gets really lengthy if you push high, and it's not super clear to me if that's providing rewards that are actually valuable. The overworld map is serviceable but not great on controllers. Some of the terms used for skills and upgrades aren't clear. Late game visibility can be difficult to read as well, but I've yet to play a game like this that solves that problem.

Bullet hell meets crack. it's what the VSurvivor devs play. THIS, is such a good game, on so many levels. pace is its strongest asset. with the single dev's commitment to quality and future updates, (i believe this one). let's not forget the affordable entry fee and promise of future cheevos. a must buy. do yourself the favor. this dev and game, deserves your fun. onward. edit: 11/24 released update with solid communication and play features. how it should be done.

nice vampire-survivor-like with cool mechanics and builds. nice amount of meta-progression to get stronger every run (called ritual here). the game captures the "just one more run"-feeling very well. i unlocked ~90% of the content with my current playtime of 15h. there is still some more farm ahead and an uber-boss to kill (whopped my ass the first time i tried to kill him)

It's got a good thing going here. Had one kinda rough update, but the devs were quick to act in fixing the poor choices. Shows promise for the future if they listen, or dare i say, talk first before developing things people might detest. As for the game itself, its very grindy, but that's kind of the rub with games like this. There's enough progression to feel fun as you unlock and level your favorites but "completion" will become a slog once you've gotten all the available level rewards. Hoping this changes in the future, but that said, the gameplay is snappy, responsive, hit boxes are very generous to the player both in hits and dodges, the bosses are pretty interesting. There's a lot to enjoy here. Steam claims it's a hades/survivors-like game. To me, It's less like a Survivors game (or death must die, etc), and a lot more like playing something like Diablo/Path of Exile on a speed run. You get all the fun of going from zero to number machine in about 20m. Overall, for the price, i'd say its worth it, and if they keep updating the game, there'll be a lot here some day. It's pretty clear they care, and the only thing it needs is just more to do. More interesting ways to keep earning that don't feel like a waste of time (kind of how it does once you've done everything.) But yea, that's my 2 cents, there's a great game here. And there's enough of it here, I think if you like ARPGs and/or Survivors-like games, treat this like a mish-mashed mini-version and enjoy.
