Cosmic Star Heroine is the epitome of trying to aura your opponent as much as possible so you can one-shot them with style as a flick. This isn't a game you should play for the writing; the story is nothing to write home about, and all the plot twists are something you can see a mile away. And the character characterisations are pretty basic; they're only cool aesthetically. You being able to play as them, such as a disco robot or an alien boundary hunter, does sound cool in itself, but nothing much. You should only play this game for the unique combat where you can only use a character skill once unless you defend to recharge them. Moreover, the main aim of the combat is to buff your character as much as possible to deal a lot of damage to the enemy at the right time accordingly. It definitely has charm, having a futuristic, cool '80s vibe and some funny, on-the-nose, fourth-wall-breaking humour that I had a blast reading and laughing. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3640921144 But I wouldn't say this is a game you have to play, but if you have any time to spare or you're looking for something different combat-wise, sure, go for it. P.S. Avoid using Zx'oru's Relentless and Cleave attacks, as that somehow freezes him in the middle of animation, especially against the giant mech robot.

It exceeded my expectation. Cosmic Star Heroine is a relatively short but well-paced turn-based RPG game with beautiful pixel art, lovable characters, nice soundtrack, a simple yet engaging story, and easter eggs/references to retro video games. The gameplay and combat is nothing groundbreaking but it's fun and it feels nice! Especially when you start to get the hang of combo and unite skills. The game goes so low on sale so you should definitely check it out!

A good modest jrpg-like. Often compared to Chono Trigger but don't expect the same quality here. The game has some nice music but too few of them, an interesting combat system. The story advances a bit too fast and characters don't have deep backstories. But nonetheless it is a pleasant game with which I enjoyed going for all the trophies. Plays perfectly on the Steam Deck.

If you have ever played anything by Zeboyd games, you know what you're getting into with this one. It's everything that you might have enjoyed from the previous games, but with a lot more budget behind it. I think it's easily their most complete game and their best that I've played. The soundtrack sounds great. There are plenty of songs that I'll be listening even after finishing the game. The art is the same pixel style that they have used before, but with a lot more detail and with classic snes style cinematics. These really bring the game together and gives off a more serious tone to the story. That doesn't mean that they dropped the comedy. The game is still very funny. They are just a lot more reserved this time as the game feels like it's trying to be a game that we would have fond memories of if it had been released on the snes when we were kids. The combat is always evolving, both from game to game and within the games themselves and this title is no different. There are a lot of characters and a lot of ways to play them in this game that keeps combat interesting all game long. The story, aside from being more serious, also has a lot of references back to games that those of us who enjoy the pixel art and snes aesthetic are bound to recognize. There is even a very challenging super boss that is far beyond anything else in the game and took me a good dozen attempts to finally squeak out a win on normal difficulty. TL:DR This is the best game that Zeboyd games has made so far, The more serious tone, large cast, catchy music, and always evolving combat make this a must play for anyone who has enjoyed their games at any point in the past.

Not very complicated, but enjoyable. Plenty of funny commentary, and references make the story enjoyable. Word of advice: You get all HP back at the end of battle, and you have no MP, and your special attacks, or "programs" recharge after a fight, so feel free to use all your abilities in battle.
