Don't know why people call it a fungerlike as the only part similar to it is the enemy design but I'd say Cradle of Nightmares is definitely a game worth playing, with the rather small downside that you either need to download a half finished fan made translation, or be able to understand mandarin. -Warning While not a goon game it has some Enemy Sprites with exposed Genitalia/ Breasts. -The Combat It feels like a somewhat improved version of Black souls2, with you being able to switch weapons mid combat, but here you can also switch your sidearm, which gives you a lot of freedom to experiment, but sadly combat overall feels rather easy unless you handicap yourself. There is also a Limb system similar to Funger, but it is very rarely used. -The Stat System In this game, to increase your stats, you have to either find used syringes to increase a certain stat, or use your gained souls to slightly boost all of them, but gain of stats also depends on which body type you chose at the start, i.e., Strong will boost your atk and Def gain, while Agile boosts agility gain, etc., with body type and Syringes being able to be changed and bought in the lategame. -the Gear and Buildmaking There is a lot of items in this game, with me finding 62 Weapons, 66Sidearms, 76Spells, 40Helmets and chest plates, 32 Gloves, and 150 Consumables. This might seem overwhelming, and it kinda is, with you only having 3Armor slots, 5ring slots, and 20 attuned Spell slots, but there are some truly great combinations out there. For example, I ran around with a sickle that would attack every enemy on screen simultaneously 9 Times in a single turn. -the Exploration The Exploration is one of the greatest parts about this game, with it throwing you into a huge open map full of secrets, and tasking you to figure ♥♥♥♥ out yourself most of the time, but threat not, for there are shortcuts hidden around every corner, giving you multiple paths into each area, and in some cases even allowing you to bypass bosses also, if your spirit goes bellow 50 there are even more paths and secrets to discover. -Aesthetic Almost all the Humans look straight out of Bloodborne, while the Monsters, Lunatics, etc., look like a mix of funger, Dark souls, and Phil Tippett's mad God, with most of the designs just popping up in a single area, or sometimes even just a tile. -Endstatement Cradle of Nightmares is in my eyes another gem in the rpg maker scene that I can only wholeheartedly recommend, and I will replay once it either gets officially translated, or All-bones Jones finishes his. With that out of the way, thank you All-Bones Jones for your translation, as the previous one was something, and I will be eyeing the dev very closely for his future project.

Fear and Lesbians, Lesbian Souls, Lesbians and Hunger. w/e you want to call it, Cradle of Nightmare is worth playing. WITH THE CAVEAT that I would strongly recommend waiting for a better localization than what we have on the internet at the moment. None of them are really up to par for English speakers, and the dialogue will be extremely rough to read. To make matters even worse, you can see the quality degrade in real time as you go on through the game. Does that hold the game back? For people that can't read the games native language, yes. BUT if you don't mind horrendously broken English, Chinese idioms that make absolutely no sense to you, and text that will randomly be replaced with Mandarin, then by all means don't let it hold you back. Now assuming you can get past the very apparent language hurdle, the actual game is really good. It plays a lot more like Black Souls than it does Fear and Hunger, but it does use share some funger-esque enemy designs. Additionally, it's not an actual gooner game. At it's core its trying to replicate Dark Souls (and most importantly Elden Rings) style of adventuring by dropping you into a VERY large and dense map, with minimal direction that is incredibly open from the outset. From the very start of the game alone you will have multiple paths you can take to progress your game, and all of them loop back in on themselves by way of shortcuts, and leading to later areas. Many zones in the game as a matter of fact have at least 3 or 4 ways of entering them, some can't even be opened until much later as a shortcut that you wouldn't have even expected. Now, while exploration is very Souls like the actual combat portion of the game is much more reminiscent of Black Souls. Just like in that game, Agility is king. Like in that game, you have attribute souls to turbo charge your stats. UNLIKE in that game, they're more restrictive to acquire and you won't have access to a vendor for them until the endgame. So you have to instead rely on character builds through intricate rings and the games various weapons and spells to swap out your skills to customize your playstyle. There's a lot of fun stuff you can do in the game, but it really rewards you for honing in on a build plan. My run was using the starting Dagger and an off-hand knife to backstab enemies on the map getting an opening attack in combat that could easily tear away half of an enemies health bar and leave them stunned for 2 turns (very overpowered in actual gameplay). This has stayed consistently good for me for my run so far, and the starting Daggers final upgrade gives you a giant agility boost when equipped alongside buffing your Throwing Knives. Throwing Knives which you can just throw up to 5-7 times in combat, per turn, that will eventually get so strong you can kill entire packs of enemies before they can even move, or nuke a bosses HP. Did I mention Agility was king? All of that said, you have ton of build options, so don't be afraid to pick whichever starting class you want and go nuts. They're all definitely pretty powerful, especially when you mix and match the armor and 100 different rings the game has. So that's combat, what about the actual core mechanics of the game? Again its more like Black Souls 2 in this regard. So much like Black Souls 2 in fact that you can get a Red Hood costume much later in the game. You have a sanity gauge that you have to manage. As you kill enemies, or certain NPC's, and or consume certain items, your Sanity will go down. While its above 50% you will open yourself up to invasions, but once you fall below 50% you "sink into the abyss". What this means is your stats will start to decrease, your special mind space where you level up will see the keeper turn into a nightmare, and most importantly the actual world will start to corrupt. This corruption is important, because it opens up alternate paths and reveals secrets you otherwise CANT see. The opposite is also true, so there's no real set amount you need to sit at, but you'll be surprised what you find and what you'll miss due to this. Notably, missing the invaders is especially punishing. They reward a lot of souls and special rings. In addition, most of them drop a unique soul that you can convert into a unique accessory, a weapon, or a spell. There's a lot to cover about the game but bottom line its worth checking out if you like the "RPGMaker Souls Like" sub-genre that's been rising out of the ground.

i check the dev's twitter dot com every day, hoping -- nay, PRAYING to see the official announcement of a release date for the english translation of this video game. i don't even know how long it's been at this point. months? years? i can't even keep track of the days as they pass now. they pass me by, unhindered by how firmly i've planted my feet in the dirt, wishing that i could freeze myself in that moment. i'm waiting, developer. i'm here. in the middle of a field. my ankles are covered in dirt. spiders have bored holes into the pus-covered leather i'm forced to still call my skin to seek shelter from the freezing winter air. i just really want that mf english translation man. it's been years that i've wanted to try this damn game !!!!!!
