This game is phenomenal. There's not enough roguelikes where each character has their own unique gimmick and abilities. Most games let you use universal skills, but it usually results in every run feeling the same and characters not standing out at all. Crafty Survivors' characters each have their own abilities and playstyle. An example can be a character throwing yarns and needles and chain electrifying enemies, or a sculptor making sculptures to fight like camping turrets. The game offers a lot of metaprogression but increasing stats can take a bit of time. You can do a run for 30k gold but upgrading a building once (the method to increase stats) cost 7k and only increase it by 1%-5%. It's barely noticeable changes which can feel underwhelming. Sometimes though, those buildings offer horizontal upgrades like a new system that gives more passives to your runs. There's also huge resource sinks which can feel tedious to grind, very similar to a looter shooter where you have to run the same tileset to farm a bunch of materials. This doesn't really bother me though since I play a lot of grindy games, plus there is a chance of a merchant to spawn in where you can trade gold for materials. There are a couple of stuff I don't like about the game though. First, having to replay the same mission node to unlock both paths in the map feels ridiculous. I understand if it's a secret room requiring a character but for 2 opened nodes. There's a couple of things that aren't explained and no autoaim </3. And even though the characters have their own abilities, it still gets repetitive easily as most of the characters I tried has only 1-2 different playstyles. Overall, this is good game to try out, I think Crafty Survivors is one of my favorite roguelites and it's what I've been searching for. Yes it can be improved but it has a shitton of content and objective.

I try almost every vs clone. EA titles aren't great so much can change before 1.0. I found Crafty Survivors and have almost 100% it. Pretty cool synergies and I really like the town build, stats, and character unlock-type meta progression. I beg you to play this game. I enjoy bringing people happiness, even if it's recommending the most funnest (I know) game and give props to the devs. Also, I'm missing a hidden achievement and not enough people are playing to find it for me. :)

This is one of those sleeper games that is going to blow up when people realize how good it is. I honestly can't think of any survivor type games that are as fulfilling as this one. It actually feels like I'm playing a game instead of "turning off my brain" and letting it play for me. The way each character plays and the mechanics surrounding them is some of the most fun I've had in a survivors game. My only minor complaint is a bit of the grindiness in some of the zones as I only play on the hardest difficulty which makes the levels take way longer. It isn't that bad because the meta progression in the game is really well done and makes you look forward to your runs even when you have to complete earlier zones. The character uniqueness is something other games can aspire to.

Each different class plays quite distinctly. The chef lets you charge up a mega move if you slice, spice, and burn your foes. The seamstress drops needles while dodging that you can electrify and call down lightning. There is a more active element to using skills than typical survivor games, but you can also build passively and decide which skills individually auto-cast (the game needs auto aim). There is more room for skill expression than typical survivor games. The town building is interesting, but more like a fresh coat of paint for the same ole meta unlocks you work towards in these styles of games. Enemy progression is solid, but the bosses have major AOEs and are generally a weird vibe compared to how to build to clear the level (more so than typical survivors games). Overall, quite fun, worth supporting!

Don't be fooled by the name, this game isn't a clone of Vampire Survivors. The unusual abilities for each character adds a charm to the game that very few arena shooters have this level of, and the gameplay is a lot more active than many in its genre. The music especially is a highlight - don't turn it off on startup!
