Sept. 2025
This is going to be a completely spoiler free review about Dead Space 2 that covers pretty much all the aspects of the game including the story, gameplay, optimization, etc. It will however include some minor spoilers and hints from Dead Space 1 (remake), so if you haven't played that gem yet, what are you doing here? Go play that and then come back to this store page. For the rest of you, I hope you find this helpful. It is spoiler free and will only give you a whole idea of what you can expect out of this game. [LORE] It takes place some time after the events of Dead Space 1. Isaac is rescued by Earthgov and is under study and research in order for the secrets of the Marker to be discovered through all the horror he went through. But once again, things don't go as planned and a second Necromorph breakout takes place in Titan Station that orbits around Saturn. Everything gets out of control and no one and nothing can stop the fall of Titan Station that is bound to occur. Isaac being the man he is with his bad ideas, ignores all dangers and risks everything to try to prevent things from getting much worse. But with Nicole forever haunting him, can he even save himself let alone save others? So just like the first game, you are literally Isaac. Meaning that I felt every single confusion, realisation, betrayal, horror and whatever Isaac felt in the game. Could even say that it was just as immersive as the remake of the first game. The characters and the whole story line is just perfect. Cannot imagine any possible improvement, it's literally perfect. Best sequel story possible. [GAMEPLAY] Very interactive as in the first game with the same mechanics. It stayed true and loyal to the origins of the first game being scary, creative and action survival. There even are some new mechanics and new weapons that inspire you to modify your ways of combat compared to your previous experience. The enemy variants are extended but still nothing too crazy. Same with weapons, it just makes you create new strategies and ways of combat which is exactly what a sequel needs to do. Not changing the base of the gameplay while still having some new content and new play styles for the player to explore. [GRAPHICS AND OPTIMISATION] Having experienced Dead Space Remake, I was worried that playing the second game from 2011 that does not have a remake or remastered version would be underwhelming and not as fun as my previous experience. Well that worry was for nothing and I truly enjoyed this game's graphics and atmosphere. It never felt like playing an outdated game, cause it isn't one. This game is so well made that I believe it may never get outdated or "expired". And in terms of optimisation, I didn't experience a single problem. Everything was as smooth as it could be. My specs are: Rtx 2060, 32GB Ram, HDD, Ryzen 5 3600. Most PCs nowadays are definitely able to run this game smoothly without a problem. [LENGTH] Despite having more chapters than the first game, it was actually shorter overall. Taking about 9 hours compared to the first one taking about 15 hours. The whole progress of chapters is a little unbalanced, meaning that a chapter would take only 15 minutes while the other could last a whole hour of playtime. Still not a problem though, it's just shorter, that's it. [AUDIO AND SOUNDTRACK] Just as amazing and as good as the Dead Space Remake. The voice acting is SPOT ON. The voice actor for Isaac is the same as in the remake (Gunner Wright) which is great. Absolutely loved everything about the voice acting and also the soundtracks. It all made the game even more immersive and scary. Simply great. [CREDITS] Totally worth the release price. Worth every single bit of it. You can buy 3 of this absolute gem of a game for the price of a modern AAA game. It's a steal if you ask me, when this one felt like it had more love and dedication and creativity compared to some "AAA" games that we see nowadays. [BUGS] I encountered no real game breaking bugs, and not even minor ones really. The game is sooooo clean. I have only seen some physics glitches where the items or pieces of Necromorphs would get stuck in the corner of some rooms and/or noclip into the walls, which I consider quite normal considering the great physics every single item and thing in the game has. No big bugs whatsoever. [RATING] I would've loved to give this game a 10/10, but I gave the first one 9.5/10 for whatever reason and I have to give this one a 9.5/10 as well, even though both games had me so hooked and interested in them and I enjoyed them so much that I can easily consider them absolutely perfect. But I guess nothing is perfect, eh? 9.5/10 [TIPS] I hope you found this review helpful and I appreciate the time and attention you put into reading it. Here are some extra tips and personal experience that you might like: 1. Be creative and be smart about your encounters and your challenges. Observe everything around you and sometimes you find some things that are not just randomly put there, they are there exactly for your to use them to your advantage against your enemies. Those stasis capsules, explosive capsules, the arm of the Exploder Necromorph, etc. They all can be more useful than you think. 2. Unfortunatly unlike the first game (the remake at least), Dead Space 2 does not have many interesting logs to read or listen to, besides some few ones. However it still has an amazing environment with untold stories and secrets that you must discover for yourself like a detective in a crime scene. So observe and immerse yourself in the atmosphere., 3. Crawl Inside the Machine, the Screws go tight all around, cross my heart and hope to die, stick a needle in your eye.

Dead Space 2 will always be my favourite game of all time. I play it every year out of tradition and I will never complain about anything other than wanting more of it. Everything is perfectly streamlined, the engagements are perfectly crafted, the dread persists even when you remember the spawn points like I have. The weapon selection is large enough that you can continually spice up playthroughs without issue. But my favourite thing about Dead Space 2 is the difficulty is perfect, Every Dead space before and after were too easy, Remakes encounters were too limp and weapons are too overtuned, 3s homogenised weapon system led to all guns shooting the same but with gimmicks like flames, acid, stasis tacked on. It didn't help that the feedback from shooting was way worth and the enemy encounters were far less impressive. Dead Space 2 is my Favourite game and I don't see it losing that title anytime soon.

Dead Space 2 is even better than Dead Space 1. It has all of the good things the first game has and builds upon them, has almost none of the bad ones, the graphics are better, Isaac now actually has a personality, the game has many setpiece sequences and the gameplay is faster, gorier and even more fun. It's one of those games that I consider a perfect sequel.
